The social security thing is such a conundrum. What to do? These potential evils of privatization have been pointed out before, and certainly give one pause. Yet in its current form, the system will collapse. No easy answers eh?
A way to privatize that would avoid the abuse described herein would be, of course, to let individuals invest their money ANYWHERE they choose. But Joe Citizen isn't necessarily investment-savvy, and the nation could wind up with massive numbers of broke citizens on its hands. Ah, what to do ...?

Maybe now that the stock market has tanked, a few people will start wakin up from la-la land and start noticing the utter lack of foundation for all these catch phrases.

What I love is the people who hear a news story about, for example, a big blizzard in Alaska in July, and use this as evidence that global warming is a hoax. They make mocking statements like, "SO!!! How BOUT that global warming, huh, all you tree-huggers?"

The sleaze of this administration certainly trumps that of the previous one, in my opinion! Pure utter bloodless evil, vs. cheesy Oval Office gropings ... yeah, I know which one I'd settle for.

oh, brother! They even hijacked the word "RAVE" for the name of their bill. Yeah, I had heard a news item a while back about legislators trying to define glowsticks as evil pernicious ancillary drug papaphernalia. Sheesh!
