Robert,

I agree with everything you said but I AM an American. That's what America is (should be) all about -- tolerance, multiculturalism, inclusion.

in I'm not happy with Leopard (Scripting News) on Scripting News
Dave,

I'm sorry to see you having trouble with Leopard but I am glad to see an open discussion about Mac flaws. It appears to me that Apple often gets a free ride from the press, largely due to Apple's excellent PR and marketing as well as its vocal base of enthusiastic users. That's not to say that there aren't things to like about Macs -- there are many - but that users and reviewers sometimes turn a blind eye to the same types of issues that get enormous attention when they rear their ugly head on Windows operation systems.

As I said in my Mercury News column this week (on my blog http://pcanswer.com/2007/11/06/windows-or-mac-a...), there is an alternative. I'm not ready to switch over yet, but Linux gets better every year and, eventually, it should pick up traction and, I think, may someday rob Apple of that uber-cool status. We'll see.

And I was honored to have you shoot my piece. Aside from being a net celebrity, you're a good shooter. I have told a lot of people how impressed I was with your camera work. You listened to what I was saying and put the camera in the right positions to capture the Mac and screens as I was describing them. Very impressive. Not only did it help create a good video, it saved a lot of editing time because I didn't have to go back to insert those shots. Thanks to you it was "live to tape" (disc actually).

in Would Your Favorite Website be Banned by DOPA? on The Technology Liberation Front

I can think of five sites that I'm involved with -- 3 of which are dedicated
to Internet safety.

BlogSafety.com that I co-direct with
Anne Collier is a forum for discussing how to keep teens safe online allows
people to register and create profiles. That might be banned.

SafeKids.com,
SafeTeens.com and
<a href="http://www.pcanswer.com" rel="nofollow">PCAnswer.com, which I operate, are set up
as WordPress blogs and, by default, they allow comments and the ability to
register so they might be banned as well.

I also write for CBSNews.com which allows registration and comments. I suppose
that too would be banned.

As I said in my CBS News

article about DOPA
,  it should be called DOTA -- Deleting Online
Teenagers Act.

I like the concept but worry a bit about safety, especially for teens. Being "lured" into a private space could be a scary proposition.
