For not forgeting my ideas(*) (specially for blog posts but also for anything else) I use two of the many GTD apps in Ubuntu. Tomboy notes and Sticky notes. . As soon as I have done one of them I simply delete it if it's not important. If it is though, I write in the title --DONE-- instead of deleting; kinda like archiving label in GMail. :-)
(*=also for searching them and keep an eye on them.)

I don't think that identi.ca can bring down Twitter, despite all the "down-times" it has it's the major micro blogging platform and will remain so.

It doesn't have to bring it down, necessarily, it will allow you cross-post to twitter soon.

A lot of people are missing the point with identi.ca anyways - it's just one microblogging service to be offered on the common Laconica platform ... and their goal is to act as a "Federated" service, a la email or Jabber. In other words, there will be hundreds of microblogging systems, all networked together with an overall resiliency much greater than anything a single provider could have.
