It's true that "your Dad's tactics" of taking you to the corner store for a pack of $0.99 Topps is over, but in a way it almost shows the maturation of the entire hobby.

As a holder of some the highest value cards out there, I find the research behind the investment to be rather enjoyable. Then again, I'm a stock trader so the research aspect of any investment comes w/ the territory.

My particular strategy is checking sites like Ebay or Naxcom for the "new and upcoming" star, and grabbing a few of his rookie cards of the manufacturer who's card demands the highest price. This has worked very well for me when considering examples like ARod and even newcomer Evan Longoria.

Re: Are You Hot Mama?

Ironic I was thinking the same thing... except it's the flames from those who crashed and burned who were long energy today!

It's a good time to buy up beaten down names for a quick trade/daytrade!

Re: Are You Hot Mama?

Agreed - the ultrashorts are a little powderkeg-ish to me, but the UYG is a killer trade if you scored it.

I nibbled on some GS tomorrow thanks to the technical heads up, but I'm just thankful I've got some daytrading skills leftover from early 2000 to deal w/ a schizo market.

Love the blog - just added you to the RSS so expect a few questions from my direction.

VT

Re: Nominate Your Favorite Writing Blog for 3rd Annual Top 10 Blogs for Writers Contest

I nominate Men with Pens. http://menwithpens.ca

Not only do they provide great content, but they pay particular attention to their readers and go out of their way to give feedback. As a new blogger myself, they provide some of the most valuable insights I've found on the net.
