I agree with Winehiker's #11 comment, "Thou shalt not require thy readers to log in to leave a comment.” Its an extra step most are not willing to take, so its always good to make it easy for users to comment.

Re: 10 Commandments of Winery Blogging!

Number X "Thou shall integrate a search mechanism on thy site". If users are forced to open a separate window to search on content from your blog, tis annoying! I won't name names, but several wine blogs don't incorporate a search mechanism. We could get everyone in the same room to discuss improvements (e.g. adding categories), policies (e.g. 3 wins and you’re out), etc. etc. Everyone could come with their ideas, and we could have a moderator/facilitator to oversee the meeting and capture all the great ideas and then figure out next steps for implementing changes.

I know that Joel is usually open to suggesting session topics at this event, so I propose we ask Joel to support a session topic for said agenda. Heck, it might have to be a ½ day workshop! :)

Re: The Grapes of Rant: Wine Blogger Awards are Corked

Oh heck, the above link isn't working. The new generation doesn't want to read a 5000 word article. Us old school folks appreciate a well-written piece but today's generation is about the social media outlet and it's ability to give one's opinions in 140 characters or less. Fair? No. ADHD? Maybe. Bloggers could fly into Portland, OR and drive I-84 for an awesome scenic drive, which beats the trek from Seattle to Walla Walla! It only adds a few minutes to your drive & you get to see the Columbia River Gorge and the energy turbo windmills. It's quite a spectacular drive! And on your return, you could hit some of the Willamette Valley wineries before heading home and kill two birds with one stone! ~Pamela @ enobytes.com

Re: 2010 Location

That would be great Paul!

Re: Details

Hi Joel, do you think there is any way to extend the Whitman hotel block from June 24 - June 27? I asked a friend, "You ever hear of a product called Thunderbird?" He responded, "Back in the 50's my dad was out driving one night and a cop pulled him over accusing him of being drunk. He reached into his pocket to pull out his ID and a bottle of Thunderbird fell out and shattered as it hit the ground. HA! No evidence so no ticket!"
