in Supreme Court Nominee Debate Defined by Conservatives on The Washington Independent
Empathy is a good thing, a very good thing. But as soon as I heard Obama say that in regard to a SCOTUS nominee, I grimaced. I just knew the Republicants would seize on it. Obama is not smart all the time. Sometimes he's very tone deaf.
The GOP and most of the media don't do nuance.

Oh good, we'll just rely on "ordinary" rendition.

in Judges Receptive to Padilla Lawsuit Against John Yoo on The Washington Independent
Yoo was a Cheney flunky hired to provide cover for illegal acts, both before and after the fact.
They played Bush like a fiddle and he was only too willing to be played.

My B.S. detector is screaming.
Joe sounds like every used car salesman I've ever met. He's got his meal ticket from the RNC or some Grover Norquist group. When's he going to start that plumbing company?

David My BS detector is screaming at you. I can smell a hippy lib from a mile away-hippies all smell for some reason. If you had a real job, you wouldn't have to buy a used car-you could afford a new one. I guess now you are waiting for 0bammy to give you a smart car. Make sure you get the model with casket handles so we can chunk you in the ground when you get hit by a shopping cart at the grocery store.

in Obama, Gates Agree on Defense Budget Increase on The Washington Independent
The new white man's burden, protecting the world. From what, with what? Why haven't the millions of us wihout jobs and health insurance taken to the streets? The answer is Drones. Rain them from the skies. Lace the land with clusters of mines. Kill them all and let god do the judging. Yee-hah!

in Misunderestimating W. on The Washington Independent
You're right: W, the movie and the man, is a gimmick. I wanted it to be over way before it was, just like Bush's reign of error. It's a poorly written movie with a lack of focus that's appalling. It's all Oedipal, all the time.

in Bring Boring Back on The Washington Independent
Exactly. Make them read the damn phone book.
And when the Dems caved during the "Gang of 14" days so the GOP wouldn't go nuclear and shut down the Senate I gagged. So what if they shut it down back then? We'd have been better off. This was during the time of the judicial nomination battles. Some battles, with capitulator in chief Reid in charge.
Am I wrong to think that it's unlikely to get 60 votes anyway, taking into account the Blue Dogs?

Why is it that Republicans like Bachmann have no compunction about retelling lies that have already been exposed as lies? Sarah Palin is quite good at this too.

It would be informative if you can find out just what books she tried to get banned at the library.
Thanks for all you do.
