Sorry James, you're wrong. He never mentioned Memphis, nor did he mention FedEx. James' tweet was his reaction to a very unpleasant racial situation. That's it.

I love this method of using Google as a 'listening platform' - very cool use! You just gave me another reason why I think more and more people will build their businesses - and their lives - on Google.

Important to note that Mr. Andrews' tweet didn't mention FedEx or Memphis - it was, in fact, an expression of irritation after being subjected to a racial incident. The picture is actually quite different than what people are discussing.

Bob, the reason Mr. Andrews made the comment he did was due to "the emotional response I had to a run in with an intolerant individual." He's being a gentleman. Translation: someone was unspeakably rude to Mr. Andrews because Mr. Andrews is African American. I call that racism.

Thank you Markus and James. Good to hear the background - now I get it. And let's call it out loud and clear. Racism is never OK, anytime, anywhere, for any reason, ever, period. Let's never hesitate to call it out so we can wake people up and get it stopped.

While all the standard stuff applies about having a great resume, practicing your interview skills and whatnot, it's also a good time to look in uncommon places for jobs. If your skill set or industry isn't doing well, switch into another. This isn't the time to open a dog walking business. People who run housecleaning companies are being hard hit, as are those who (or work in) car washes (not that they're your audience, Chris). People forgo time saving services. What can you provide that's a critical, sustainable product or service?

Right-o....it's all about listening and conversing. Good list, Jason. My success in social media PR has been about reading and listening to bloggers and consumers. Pushing messages just doesn't do it - it's about tailoring and slicing so it's right for the audience.

Joe the Plumber's real name is Sam. Oh, and he's not licensed as a plumber - didn't even apprentice as one. Wait, there's more. Without being credentialed, he's working as an officer in his union! The topper? He owes back taxes. I'd say his comments have about as much gravitas as a cupcake. What a loser!
