I used to have panic attacks frequently.They have gotten better over the years. There is no complete "cure" for it but you can out grow it. Panic attacks are genetic trait, so there could be someone in your family in the past who has had them, but since you say that they have gotten better you may be out growing them, but don't feel bad because they will get better to a point that you won't need medicine anymore. you should probably see a doctor if it gets too bad though. I wish you the best luck! :)

quick correction. either 24Nm is wrong or 22% is wrong. why? 22% of 27Nm is 5.94Nm. 27minus 5.9 is not 24. 11% less would be correct or 21Nm would be correct. or am i missing something? Good thing you ride good. ha ha.

Ipower sucks ass, I had a por plan with unlimited emails for my WISP cusotmers and those assholes deleted all my customers email accts. I downgraded to an email only acct and then they lost the email accts. Now they claim they don't have a backup of the site. This si the 2nd time they did this the 1st time they restored it, this time they didn't. Now some bitch in billig Kelly H says well yuou get what you pay for? Fucking cunt needs to be hung and beat. Just trying to have a positive outlook,surrounding myself with people who make me laugh, who are loyal and who I can count on for anything and watching my dog on the beach get frigging excited about any shell that moves in the water.
Watching him jump around in the water is the best thing ever.

Depression sucks. Been there. Done that. Got that t-shirt...therapy, best thing that ever happened to me. I did it last year during my divorce again just to keep perspective and have someone who was paid to sympathize with me..ha... just kidding.

What a great idea....god. I remember that so well.
I was living in Hawaii and was in grad school. I had just gotten married to an Army officer stationed there.
We were asleep when the phone rang at 3 am-ish. He answered. It was a friend.
The ex husband turned to me and said "A plane hit the World Trade Center".
We both knew in an instant that it was an attack....we laid still for a second and then he jumped up and said "we better turn on the tv"..my immediate first thought was "I hope they won't go to war".
2 weeks later he was gone to Afghanistan for 16 months.
I spent that day and many days thereafter watching TV, feelind numb..I am not American but i have lived here many years and love this country more than my own. I was worried about my friends in NY, my military family friends...It still is horrific to see the images on tv...it feels like yesterday....
I will never forget that day.

This worked really well. It stops those little popups that appear out of nowhere on Win2000 and WinXP, and only let you press OK.

To test it out, go to Start->Run and type in command. This will get you the MS-DOS prompt.

Now type net send localhost Hello and press enter.
You'll get a message to yourself (localhost) saying hello. After stopping the service (as described) it won't happen!!!

It was stupid of MS to include this "feature" anyway.

download mozilla firefox, if you didnt already know its a cool web browser, you can change the theme so it looks any way you want it to, and it has extensions which are little addins you can download, one of these extensions is called allow right click 1.1 and it does just that allow you too right click, every once in a while a right click not allowed box will pop up on a site but i can still right click, heres the website you can download it at http://extensions.roachfiend.com/index.php just download firefox from www.mozilla.com then install that allow right click and ur all set to go.

How am I supposed to keep the wind from blowing this car away? We get on the norm west winds of about 80 to 100 Km/Hr Gusting to 110 or 120 Km/hr sometimes! Pretty much year round! It dosen't look like a very safe vehical to be driving broad side to blizzard type winter winds in winter, or even on a hot July day when the wind is strong! Noone in the class ment to offend anyone, we were solely trying to share our experiences while at JCHS and our ride along time with Roanoke Fire EMS., with friends, family, and who ever else wanted to see it. Now i know that there are copyright laws and blah blah, but all the pictures were of students and incident that they were at.

I disagree.

I don't see Kerry as that similar to Bush. Not the ideal candidate but it would make a huge difference, particularly because the Republicans will control the Senate and the house for at least the next couple of years. With a Democratic president they will be forced to moderate a wide range of legislation so that either the President would sign it or it could get enough Dem support in the house to override a veto. The supreme court is a hugh prize up for grabs at the moment as well. Despite his assertion last night that he wouldn't have a 'test' on Roe v Wade for a supreme court judge you can be sure that anyone Bush puts forward won't be big on civil rights or choice. Right now the court is split 5/4 on a whole lot of issues, much as the country seems to be split fairly evenly.

My one hope is that the momentum of groups like Move On and ACT won't die in November. Howard Dean is doing some good work at the grassroots level trying to build an alternative to the Christian / Conservative movement that has been working for years. But it will take time and effort from all of us for that to work.

first, Kelly hasn't been associated with Idol since she left 19 as her management back in 2005. Her only dealing swith them since then are the same as every artist who appears on an Idol show anywhere in the world, as a guest.

As for Clarksons relationship with her fans, it actually is quite closer than most artists, as Kelly herself psots on her fansites, as do her band and her friends. In addition to her standard meet and greets before or after a concert, she very often spends time with fans at various appearances, and has even gone as far as to place phone calls to fans thanking them for presents and such they had sent to her.

Some of you are so caught up in what 'hollywood' dishes you, that when someone genuine does come along, you instantly group them into the bunch. Clarkson, like many in the country genre, go the extra mile for the fans who buy their merchandise, send them letters, etc.
Most of what Clarkson does for her fans, doesn't even get in the media, for example, the childrens hosptial in Rhode Island Kely stopped at before a nearby concert she was doing, to meet some terminally ill children who had wrote her a latter, and were to ill to attend the concert. Kelly kept it a bit hush hush so the media wouldn't invade her time with them, but spoke of it after (with images) afterwoods to her fans on her official, and non-official fansites. This is typical of her.
She's also become very respected within the industry, having uch names as Steven Tyler, Martina McBride, Aretha Franklin, and many others attend her shows (without pre-announcement, but the pictures alays show up on the fansites).
She really is one of the few who hasn't sold out. She was stuck in a 19 contract in the beginning, forced to make a movie (was part of the contract to be on Idol, all the contestants had it in the contract), and as soon as it was up, she was out of there. Now she's managed by a trueicon, Reba McIntyre and her husband Narvel Blackstock with their Starstruck Entertainment.
Apparently, it's all you 'morons' who dont ahve the slightest clue what your talking about, like many of the reviewers with their pethetic little blogs, who make up their own stories jsut to draw attention, not caring how much of it is true or not..
Sorry to burst the bubble on this blogs creator, but in spite of what the media is ahrping on, you weren't the first to 'leak' the demo's, they were stolen by, and first posted on a Brazilian fansite, who is paying the price for it. The songs first got out nearly a month, so your way behind the times. You jsut happened to get lucky and your blog made it to google alerts, so billboard picked it up. If you think that's a good thing, in a way it is, you'll be popular fo rthe time being, but on the other side of it, labels, management, and legal teams will be going over the blog with a fine toothed comb watching everything posted on it. You may have done yourself in on this one.

there are LEGAL WAYS to sample music, go to any store, they have lsitening stations, go to itunes or amazon, you can hear clips legally of a song.. if a one minute clip isn't enough to know you like a song, you shouldn't be listening to music at all.

The problem these days is that no one seems to believe in ethics, just as no one seems to want to take responsibility. I recall seeing the biggs suicide thing a day or to after it happened and I recall that a lot of the people who had cheered him on were retaliating against their detractors with comments like how were we supposed to know, or what could we do. Umm well lets see you could have contacted the authorities immediately for the simple reason that he was threatening to selfharm and therefore should have been dealt with by a proffesional as opposed to a bunch of scum who rather than help thought only of goading him on, but no unfortunately this simple approach never once entered their supposedly superior minds, ergo the result in this case, a successfull suicide. It is a shame that those who posted the things that encouraged him to take his life were not brought to justice as say aiders and abeters in suicide, something like a manslaughter charge may have wiped the arrogance from their cowardly faces. In the end all it takes is contacting the emergency services and alerting them to the situation and at least there then is a chance that something can be done, and if it turns out that it was someone pulling a hoax, well a few years in prison might make them less inclined to act the moron in future.

Wow did I open up a can of worms or not by standing up for what I believe in. I have read the posts and never thought this article would get such a response as it did. I served as a medic in Vietnam and was with a young man as he lay dieing from a wound suffered in combat. His religion on his dogtags read Atheist. In base camp he and I and several others had many discussions on my beliefs and theirs. oh and that major fanciness with the 'best of' category -- i can't tell you how utterly complicated i am about the whole issue of that category. many plugins were required. nested if statements are involved.

so i wrote a post, made numbers use the proper suffix, and implemented a special category. most folks would not consider this an entire day. sigh.

it's non-fiction you know - i observed myself and the night's events and reported them. the only difference between this and journalism is that i go for euphony first and clarity only if it doesn't interrupt the general energy.

On September 28th I was contacted by a Facebook user that came across my blog letting me know that he was threatened by Comcast for the same fuzzy violation.

This is my response towards him:

If you were threatened, the chances are that disconnection is imminent. They are trigger happy and they are going to do it. You won't get a second warning. Get rid of them. I have had DSL with Verizon & AT&T now and have had very little issues with either one of them.

My fight with Comcast began 3 years ago but I wasn't alone. There are others out there that took a more vicious approach. The best advice I can give anyone in fighting a corporate behemoth like them is to tell the truth. They don't want people to know what they've been doing for the better part of this and the last decade. Do not be bullied or silenced.

Comcast was very quick and defensive against Frank Carrero & even with damning evidence, LOL.

No matter. Whatever side you're on whether it be conservative or liberal, just remember that were number 16 in the world as far as internet deployment in this country. AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon have huge monopolies/duopolies in the country and have painted a rosy picture of where they serve explaining that there is nothing wrong with our current position and it's sad really.

Net Neutrality is an issue that WE NEED.

The Bay Area is very interesting indeed and I completely understand why so many gay people come here. Many are not indigenous to the area coming from different places and very broken, abusive lives. They want the freedom from the persecution they endured back home.

yeah also daemon tools refuses to update their software for windows 7 beta.
now lots of users are changing to other disc mounting tools such as Pismo File Mount, which somehow works fine with win7 beta plus more options for free.
stubborn people who refuses to go with flow fails or loses, take LAIR for PS3, users demand analog stick controls but the LAIR devs refuses to make it asap, they only made analog patch later which results in lackluster sales.

i have a very weird category setup, it's not really all that user-friendly, the category's a subtitle & the link is kinda nondescript. in fact the way i have gone about it, you'd think i was deliberately trying to be confusing.

Fully Qualified Domain Name. i.e., in the format of hostname.domain.com -- it is possible to point an MX record at an IP address, it just won't actually work.

now, i had the FQDN, for the mailserver, but it was a CNAME, which made it an alias of the A record, and i needed the email to point to the server that the A name used to point to, but now points at work's servers. and nobody would admit to having handled the email routing before. good god.

have i mentioned this is the agency's best client? who has offices down the hall? no? well, there was that.

so i made the CNAME into an A record, pointed that at the exchange server's IP, and then pointed the MX record at the A record i just created.

why i didn't think of that in the first place is beyond me. at the time it seemed a bit circular. should have known that was a good sign.

and then i had 184 emails i had to hand forward out of the cyber-oubliette they fell into.

but MT works so marvelously. i did use it for the lyric section, which is all dynamic PHP, & certainly it would be possible to write the templates as PHP queries & avoid the MT variables, ... but why?

trying to duplicate the work of the MT development community put in making the template structure so powerful seems wasteful. i like it the way it is.

& it's the simplest, easiest, coolest little bit of code ever. there's an actual MT plugin that can be installed that does the reading of the alert level from the DHS but the PHP version was ever so much cooler, because it refreshes on pageload rather than when the page rebuilds.

the crisis is that in good strong direct light there is a very pronounced difference between the roots & the rest of the hair - not just color, but the underlying tone. very very different.

First of all, a fan who runs a Brazilian fansite dedicated to Clarkson hacked some security protoccals within Aben Eubanks' website and tok the demo's, posting them on the Brazilian fansite. Eubanks discovered the security breach right away, and anyone who runss a website and has a server knows there are logs of all hits and access. It wasn't hard to figure out who it was, which he did. The person from the fansite openly admitted to it, and the demo's were removed, but not after a bunch of blogs had already found them and posted them (if you think this blog was the first, guess again, the demo's were stolen and posted close to a month ago).
Secondly, Eubanks himself ha contacted many of the blogs, having the songs removed, as well as posting on several Clarkson fansites, in which he, and the rest of Kelly's band (and some of her friends) visit very often, and participate in livechats and such, and have been doing so for years. He explained the security breach, and ask that the songs not be posted or shared. A few blogs which didn't want to cooperate at first, have recently been sent legal forms from Clarkson's lawyers, and they have removed all links to the songs now.

It's a shame about what's happened to the industry these days. Fortunatly for Clarkson fans, she actually does talk to her fans, through her official and fansites, before and after concerts and appearances, and via many of her close friends and her band, who frequent many of Clarksons fan run fansites. It's been this way since Kelly won Idol, prior to having an official site, Clarkson herself posted often on fan run fansites. If you don't want to believe it, that's your choice, you only have to visit them and do some searches on them to see it all for yourself.
Some of you are so caught up in the high and mighty, out for themselves artists being shoved down everyones throats by label's and producers, when a real person comes along int he industry who cares about ehr fans that keep her where she is, and has some decency to appreciate what fans do for her, ya'll find it so hard to believe it's real.
As for the demo's, they are unfinished work, that was not released or leaked. They were in fact stolen. Clarkson does leak finished songs that she won't be using on an album, and her early pre-Idol demo's. The only people trying to cause contraversay over them are those who have no respect for anything or anyone and jsut want free music anyway they can get it.

1. The songs were NOT LEAKED by the record label.. they were STOLEN, by someone who actually admitted to it, and appologized for doing it.

Legal is already sending out letters, which is the first step towards the lawsuits. Several blog owners have recieved them and posted so. For one thing, a secured private area was hacked into (which is illegal in itself), second, personal property was taken without permission (a felony offense), third, the person admitted to doing it.

Again some of the comments here, and excuses for sharing music ilelgally, is nothing but crap and an attempt to validate doing something that is wrong. Morally it's extremely wrong, and disrespectful (and selfish).

Go tell all the people ordered to pay out tens of thousands per song they've obtained illegally or shared (some as far back as 7-8 years ago who are first now being sued for it and losing their case).. see if they tell you 'it's no big deal'. If you need video of some of these people from news broadcasts, it can be provided.
Ask Napster, Myspace, and Youtube about their huge lawsuits which they lost, simply for allowing people to upload illegal music and share links on their service. See if they tell ya 'it's ok, it's going to happen'.

It's easy to say 'no biggie' and 'it will never happen to me' until it does, and that can be at any time. No one thinks it will ever happent o them until it does, then they come up with every excuse in the world for it, which gets them no where.

Kelly Clarkson herself expressed to Billboard she was upset about the songs being out there unfinished. That seems to be ignored because of selfish reasons, with no regard to anyone elses feelings.

As for My December and Clive Davis.. you all really think Kelly sat on the phone with Clive argueing about the album? You think if it was such a flop, it would have been released? If Clive didn't like it as much as reported, it would never have been released, and she may have been released from the label. Common sense simply eludes some of you. The 'battle' with the label over the album happens on every album, with every artist. The media twisted it into something it wasn't, sice they enver have much to write about Kelly to sell their tabloid crap to morons who believe it all.

Babble on all you want, there is no justification for sharing music illegally (including stolen demo's of unfinished work)

It's still YOUR blog, and you bare the responsability of moderating the comments posted on it. Allowing links to the stolen demo's in comments on your blog is the same as posting them yourself. you're the one responsible for all content here. If you don't want to believe it, call any entertainment lawyer, RIAA, or the DCMA and hear it directly from them. The only allowance you get is an amount of time in which to remove the links/comments before they due pursuit legal action if they so choose to.

These demo's are more then just shared music, they are actual stloen property (a felony to those who stole them), and jsut like any stolen property, people can be liable for receiving and distribution of stolen property. Having them in the comments can easily be considered as 'fencing', as your providing a medium for them to be redistributed.
Something for you to think about there.. you have a popular blog, would be ashame to see it forced under over something like this (and before you think it wont ever happen, read some news, do some research, it's happening ALOT lately).

Maybe the girls are on to something... Computers are a "one track" machine. They pretend to multi-task, but they do not really. It is obvious in our video stuff where we display one pix at a time. Humans have a processor connected to each pix the eye sees... females think with both sides of the brain at the same time... they really do multi-task. No wonder computers are boring.

On another line of thought, I am not at all convinced technology is the silver bullet preached here. My faith lies somewhere else. I suspect removing all tech advances from the last 1000 years would do more to save environment than anything we are likely to do with it. No I am not at all looking forward to it... and yes I am male and yes I enjoy programming... and yes I do know some good female programers. But technology is pretty fragile.

I agree with others who have said it's great that these kids are using their brains to try and come up with a solution to our problems. But come on, when you go out and buy electric fans and TE cooler chips and claim you invented something you're really fooling yourself. Peltier invented it almost 100 years ago, so why not give the award to him. Infact most water coolers use this same thing. But if you don't agree with me, just the other day I used a pencil sharpener to sharpen my pencil, do I get an award? And all air conditioners now use R-134a, not freeon, that was banned in the early 90's. R-134a is a harmless gas as far as we know. In electric vehicles, or series hybrids, compressor systems are maybe not so feasible, so this method will likely be the only option for such vehicles.

I just want to say that where was the parents is a good question. The girl didn't live with her father and she didn't see her mom for weeks at a time. To Bay, if you read this... the papers cannot tell the whole story and the girl was first off 14[it says 15 in the report], and other than him being 27, acted as if any boyfriend would. If she asked him to stop he would, but at the same time she really believed she loved him and he loved her. All that matters is she stopped after the last time and he is going to get what he deserves. To Susi, you do need to get facts straight, in what state is the consent age 13? In Virginia and a few other states it is 14 but I believe that is the youngest. In some states it's 19, in PA it is 16. Some girls don't even go through puberty by 13, why would the consent age be that? This girl blames herself, but him mostly and that's how it should be. Can anyone honestly sit there and say that a 14 even 15 year old can make their own decisions especially something like that.They aren't even grown up yet.She was looking for acceptance. I'm done.

After being away from a computer all day, I came to see the responses. I apologize for bringing up a topic you wished to close, but I feel that what I said was completely misunderstood...
Firstly, in terms of a BT home-- you are from one, and B"H your children are not. You are b"H going to be the father with the answers. I was saying that where you come from is different. If anything, that makes your learning, your knowledge, and your Chassidus so much more real.

Second of all, one of the most stable, well-rounded, and truly normal people I know happens to be from a divroced home (she also happens to be your sister... :) Children of a divorce are still normal, I'm the last one to argue that. In any event, I was not in any way saying that you grew up without love, good mmemories, etc. What I was saying is that coming ffrom a non-divorced home, I'm amazed that a person's life can continue and be "normal". I feel that c'v if i was in youur shoes, my life would be shattered... I have a cousin going through a divorce, and his 7 year old daughter is suffering to no end. She's surrounded with love, but she is still suffering- immensly.
perhaps like all life events it makes you stronger. What I was getting at though, was that it is the very fact that it is such a "life event", that other's can't always understand. Having not been through the situation, we are b"H naive in this...

It's a naivity that cannot grow up and become knowledge unless experienced, and some are b"H okay without having to marry someone who understands them... others are not.

On the subject of divorce (as discussed above)...
No matter how a person may not have been "affected" by it, it is still a totally different upbringing.
For example, coming from a b"H "married" home, how can you expect someone to begin to fathom how it must be to have two homes, to see a parent dating someone else, to be brought up with two different mindsets/philosophies/goal, ambitions?

Of course you can group up in either home and turn out the same way, yet would you be able to really undertand the other person?

The biggest proof I have of this is quite personal. The way I grew up, in a so-to-speak "married" home, I don't know any other method of marriage then "sticking together no matter what". I can't imagine c'v my parents not together. It would rip me apart in millions of shreds. I think a lot of "married family" kids would agree with me on this.

That is why I (and most likely others) can't begin to fathom how you honestly feel you were not emotionally scarred from your parents divorce.
This very mindset boggles me to no end.
I don't know if I'm clear on this or not... But basically, "married" kids, see divorce as the end of everything, and you dont (if anything you take it and make it something higher and greater-like the post about the diamond with the crack and making it a rose).

How do you expect and "married" girl to understand where you're coming from, if you really don't feel that it emotionally scarred you? That very mindset is what makes so much of a differnce.

Mottel, you bring up valid points that can not be disputed... But, I think what "passerby" is trying to do, is to make you think a bit further... These are just my thoughts on the matters discussed above. Please note, when I say "you", i do not mean you directly, rather a general "you"...

You may not have the same background as a typical BT- you've been "through the system", so you're not a Hadar or a Morristown bochur. That though, is not the point, because no girl has been through those yeshivos either.
No girl has been through any Yeshiva. The Yeshiva system for the bochurim and the system for the girls is very different. So to begin with, going through "the system' doesn't mean that the bochur and maidle have been through the same things.

It's not going "through the system" that makes people come from the same background. It's something far deeper.
It's an education instilled within you from conception. It's the driving force that nurtures you until you are old enough to fully choose who you are and who you want to become.
Forget "the system".
It's the home that makes all the difference.
When you go to a Lubavitcher's home in California or one in Illinois, you feel you are in the same home. That is why a bochur from France and a maidle from Brazil can get married... home life is so the same, despite the outside mentality... There is an air, a "sevivah", an environment that seems to breath G-dliness and Chassidishkiet.
It is a home in which the father and mother not only give over life lessons and midos(which all parents can b"H do), they also give over a living legacy.
In a frum home, children look up to their parents as their personal rav and mechaneches. When they have a question in halacha, all they have to say is "tatty, what do i do?". Their mother can point them to the right page in the siddur, she can tell them what is allowed and not allowed in the home, what is kosher, pareve, or trief-in food and all things.

In the home of a BT family? It's amazing. It's a place of constant light, growth, creativity. It's a fusion of art and culture that is suddenly uplifted and transformed to G-dliness.
And yet, there is a role reversal.
Your father has a halachic question- you probably learnt it 3 years ago. Your mother keeps asking you what kapitol is numer 49, and yet you need to keep telling her that 49 is nummerically mem-tes... she just doesn't get it. You have to be the one to explain why you won't allow certain things in the home. While your parents might be so liberal with what you do, you need to set the boundaries of what you feel is "kosher" or "trieff".
Do you look up to your parents?
Without a doubt. Perhaps even more so because of their life changes etc... and yet? It's just not the same atmosphere.
It's learning how to sing Uncle Moishy songs when you're 16 baby-sitting or helping at a rally rather than when you're 4 watching the rally.
It's the difference of growing up knowing all the small nuances of from life, or having to learn them all from the begining.

I'm the latter catagory. BT family, and b"H i've been through "the system" since 2nd grade... doing all the good and right things, going to the right places, working in the right mosdos. To call myself BT? Just doesn't fit. To call myself FFB? Nope.
No, none of these labels can be branded accross my forehead...

That is the beauty of where a BT child/early teen stands. We can go in any direction we choose... and yet can we ever really choose at all?

Whether or not the shadchan thinks that the home life will match. Whether or not people will talk about what a strange shidduch it is. Whether or not it makes sense to anyone else.

I see your point in what you say... I don't know how the Yeshiva system runs, and I b"H don't know bochurim that are affected by it, but there are some things that I do know.
There are some things called "dakos Haemes" the finer lines of truth.
It's going beyond Halachah, and beyond Chassidishkiet. Dakos Haemes is something personal. It's the personal sensitivity that a person feels for any given thing in Yiddishkiet.
For one person it could be a refinement in speech, like using the world "hi" instead of "hey".
It could be a refinement in character, like making it a point to wear or not wear a particular thing. It could be about a million other things as well. No one has the understanding or capabilities to tell another person what their Dakos Haemes should be... we are all programmed and raised differently.
Each person is sensitive to different things, yet many people can be sensitive to many of the same things. From my personal experience, if you go through "the system" there are certain Dakos Haemes you just understand and pick up. There's things that you just say "i get it" becuase as unexplainable as it may be, it makes sense to do or not do a particular thing. It's a silent message that speaks an underlying truth. It's not being robotic, it's just "getting it". It is these very silent messages that set us apart. It is the small details, the silent and often looked-over "fine lines" that make us refined and put us on a higher spiritual standing.
Perhaps your friends disinterest in blogs is in fact a personal sensitivity, an act of personal refinement... or not. It's just something to think about...

In refernce to the use of a single one last name for husband and wife... In today's day an age this is more than a sensitivity, it is a statement. It is a declaration that "we are one". It is a silent message that tells the family, the children, those around, and most importantly husband and wife that after the chuppah, they became a unified unit. It's not that 1+1=2 or that 1/2+1/2= 1, rather a marriage is 1+1=1. Two whole complete people coming together to form a fully complete and wholesome life. It is two people with two distict identies, passions, and strengths coming to form one perfect existence. It's using all the varying thoughts, creativity, uniqueness and lochos of two very different people, and allowing both to play their G-D Given talents in perfect harmony. That is the beauty, the gadlus, and the miracle of a marriage.

It may seem "what's the big deal with a double name?" It isn't, such a big deal, but it is sending a silent message. It is saying that there is a part of wife or husband that has not integrated into the symphony of the marriage. There is a "note" that keeps music oh so slightly off key. Yet in today's day and age, if there is something we can do to keep a hold on every vestige of a perfect marriage, why not do so?

I don't know how things work on the other side of the Mechitzah, but on our side, there are definate thinkers. There are in-born sensitivies, and things we pick up along the way, but there is thought. There are questions, there are points that are argued and weighed out.
Sometimes it takes the right type of people to bring this out in a person, and sometimes as much as we ourselves are "deep" and real "thinkers" we don't have the keys to open up another person. That's okay, but that doesn't mean that the other person isn't deep or a thinker. It's just how they personally relate to you.

Since you're on the subj. of mosquitoes, I'll share my experience...
I was sitting in a car, and my window was open ajar. I mosquitoe came in, and it desperately tried to get out. It could see it's destination through the window as it kept knocking into it, trying to get out. Finally it flew just a little higher, and was free.
It was a real life lesson for me. Sometimes our goal is right in front of us, but we just need to go a little "higher" and we'll truly be free... l'chatchilah ariber!

Like the post, you have a good point, but I agree with nemo in a way...
IMHO, having learnt on both "sides of the fence" Litvish and Lubavitch are both Emes. Litvish Emes though is basic, bottom line, black and white (like their clothing etc...)
Lubavitch OTOH, is a deeper, richer, and colorful type of emes (have you seen the colors walking up Kingston Ave?)
So they make a Sefirah book-nice, simple, a countdown that's cute... But when we make a Sefirah book there is a deeper line running through it all, there is the Rebbe's advice at the turn of each page.
It seems to me that you've learnt to love the color of Lubavitch, but it's important to aknowledge and accept the "black and white".

I think that when you write about the soul, etc, it's deep and inspiring, but it doesn't leave room for other's thoughts etc. If it's something controversial, or something that begs the reader's mind for more answers, ppl comment. Otherwise, they read and life goes on. Imagine, if salad gets you this far, what would a post on Chocolate chip cookies do?!? :)

It amazes me how a post about salad can be so exciting as to have this many comments! Goes to show you how food brings people together (main reason why we eat Pas Yisroel!)
Anywho, for all you basementers... There's a book of recipes that call for 4-5 ingrediets... I think it's called "The 5 ingredient Cook book". Never used it, but it could prove to be helpful, or at least entertaining :)

It's a liberating feeling to be able to be back in a house with a stocked pantry and normal cooking utensils. Then again, it limits your ingenuity!

I think that many times, there is a lot of depth in our worlds, and we can be too "tired" or too "busy" to read into our own words. I think that a lot of the time, so much knowledge and understanding is locked inside of ourselves, that even when we let a little leak out, we still haven't even gotten a glimmer of what's truly in store.
That's why an outside opinion is so needed and so useful.
That's why critics and editors are crucial in writing. Right when we think we might have found the key, someone else points out that the door is already open!

Unfortuately the only two things i remember from Exodus when i was a kid, is: 1, Krias Yam Suf, they did it amazingly... I will never forget the experience

It sounds like a cute idea, but the problem with that, is, that it sends a subliminal message that you have to "modern" to save the Jews, you know what I mean?
If he starts out modern, then it's a cool Rabbi. If he becomes modern then there's something amiss. again, this is just personal opinions and i could be wrong.
It's very hard to make M"R into the loveable star... Moshe Rabbienu is Emes in the truest form, and it takes a lot of self examination, and humility to be able to recoginize and appreciate it.

Why not have Moshe be in a suit with a pair of shades. That way he he'll be like a modern day Rabbi in a by-gone era. He should have a sharp sense of humor, and interact with the audience. The only thing is, is that it's not enough to say you can transform a hard situation into a greater purpose.
You can't just sit there and say that you will grow from this experience.
You have to go and carve out that rose. You have to be a constant work in progress. Everyone suffers from things in life that can make them stronger and greater people-only if they work on! We have to be PROACTIVE to make a difference in who we are and who we are becomming.

I recently read that most husbands who help in the home and and are their for their wife and children, are not necessarily men who come from great homes where their father's helped etc. Rather, the greater majority are men who came from abusive, neglected, etc. homes and made a CONCIENTIOUS DECISION to be different from their fathers...

Everyone has skeletons in the closet, at least with a kid from a divorced home, you know the truth. You don't find out horrible stories afterwards... everythings out on the table to begin with.

When I see the Kotel I cry. I can't help the emotion that pours out from the depth of my very being. "I'm home!" here, in this very spot is where so many Jews have been crying out to our Father in Heaven, here is where we all stand as equals before the King of all kings.

Friday night, birthright Israel trip.... Kotel... EVERYONE is there.
The holiness is still there... But it's no longer a great return after an absense of many years. The feeling friday night @ the Kotel, is that you truly are home. Home in the sense of relaxation. No formalities. No great serge of emotion. Homecoming was last time, this time it's just coming home at the end of a long day of work.

I love the spiritual high i get @ the Kotel any time, but on Shabbos, it's a very different story.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this... but that was at least my experience.

Journalists are weak as water statewide. The pursuit of the facts has been replaced by the pursuit of enough copy to keep getting paid.

Some suggestions from one who's been there:

* Get in the candidates' faces, and don't let their minions run interference.

* Demand answers from the candidates; do not accept info from their people or press releases. I want my info from thee decision maker, not an underling who dictates prepared comments the decision maker has never seen.

* Stop letting candidates hide from the people. They are seeking public office, so why do we let them avoid the public? Get cameras and mikes in their faces, and keep them there.

* Leave your ego at home and be thorough, truthful, accurate about everything. Seek and report ALL points of view. The journalist's job is about informing people, not persuading them.

Sorry for the rant, but the bottom line is that I feel like reporters today are just settling for the soundbyte instead of hungrily digging through the trash and seeking the treasure in the form of the truth.

At some point, people will grow so tired of negative ads from both sides that such ads will be relegated to the same mental sorting pile as those for fat-burning pills and hemorrhoidal ointments.

Ads should tell voters why we SHOULD vote for a candidate, not vice versa.

Since I don't trust politicians in general, I tend to cast my vote for the one whose campaign was less accusatory.

Well said, Happy. That big black box in between patients and providers is "the health insurance industry". The health insurance industry uses obfuscation and stupid, nit-picking rules that have nothing to do with health care to do what they do best: collect premiums and avoid paying claims. Until a large amount of the stupidity -largely residing in that black box -is removed from the system, there can be no "transparency", especially in terms of prices. Whether you go to a fast food joint or a fine dining restaurant, everybody gets the same menu, with the same prices. I may order a different 'combo meal' than you do, but regardless of what I order, the price does not change for the next person who orders the same combo meal I ordered Not so, in the current health insurance situation. Just because you have coverage from Blue Cross/Blue Shield does not mean we pay the same prices or that the provider receives the same amount of money for receiving the same services and procedures. You could be paying a lot more, or a lot less, and your provider could be receiving a lot more or a lot less, depending on how your individual/ group plan is structured. If we can remove the black box, there may be hope for a universal health care system where patients pay reasonable premiums and providers, regardless of their specialty, are compensated fairly.

Actually, a couple of reasons: a bad Illinois Supreme Court decision and a couple of accidents. Not long after the income tax was enacted in 69, the Supreme Court held that the General Assembly did not intend to tax income that was actually earned before the tax was enacted, even though it would be constitutional for it to do so. This was a little strange, because the Senate Revenue Committee had expressly discussed the issue and determined that the act did tax pre-enactment income -- the discussion was whether it was constitutional to do so.

Anyway, the General Assembly responded by following the time-honored rule that a tax break can never be taken away, even if given by a stupid court. They changed the law to say that individuals were not taxed on income, expressly including retirement income, that was earned before 69. (Note that the new law also said that fat-cat corporations ARE taxed on pre-69 income). Retirement plan administrators and actuaries went crazy because computing how much retirement income was "earned" before a given date is very, very complicated and even subjective. So the General Assembly responded by simply exempting all retirement income. There was discussion of repealing the exemption after maybe 10 years, on the grounds that most pre-69 income would have been distributed by then, but, of course, once a tax break is allowed, it can never be taken away. In fact, it has been expanded since.

BTW, graduated tax rates is expressly prohibited by the constitution. Also, taxing retirement income once the person earns "too much" to be exempt is arguably a graduated tax, so even if the General Assembly could muster the courage to do it, they would be inviting litigation to resolve the issue.

Levois--I don't know what happened with the professors in 2006, but now days it is clearly made to employees that their time and activies while logged in and taking the training may be monitored. I know several plan ol' frontline workers that had to retake the training/test because it was believed they breezed through it too quickly and therefore did not maybe actually read all and get the full extent of the training--so they took it again and got the same results. Yes, I know people read and comprehend at different levels/speeds, but too quick leaves one suspect to the powers that be no matter how silly that thought is.

Technically, "RRB" is incorrect, isn't it? According to Wikipedia.org (which cites its source), Rod has no middle name; he simply uses a middle initial (ostensibly in honor of his late father).

Just because someone says they want to be called something does not obligate anyone to play along. Therefore, isn't "RB" then technically correct?

I cannot believe that this question is even being asked. Wasn't this the person who pushed through "ethical" reforms through Springfield? (Even though SB 1333 is being held hostage in this current battle). I truly believe that all the MJM fans out there are due to his 38 years in Springfield (the last 26 in leadership in the House). Add about four more years to the mix and he would have been down there longer than Richard J and Richard M combined. The Speaker had been the Number 1 Democrat in Illinois for a very long time. He outfoxed Senate Pres Phil Rock of the 80s and every Dem in Illinois had to go through him to push their agenda in the state. The Speaker should have retired during the 2006 election, however was so tied up to during battle with Blago and Emil. During the years of 2003-2009 everyone blamed Blago and Emil for the current mess and since their departure and the mess still ongoing, everything is ready to annoint the Speaker King. Mr. Madigan has done some great things for Illinois no doubt about it. Yes best of all he said no to Blago and was the only one in power to do so. However the three seats of power in Illinois Government are the Speaker, the Senate Pres and the Governor. Now to have the obvious notion of one family rule is like the Queen of England. I agree with some of the other people in the notion that even if the Speaker were to retire who is to say that he will not be calling the shots from afar. Just because you don't see someone doesn't mean they still don't rule. The 2010 Governor's race will be interesting as well as the other races. For example, as not spoken here however what about the Secretary of State. Jesse White will be 76 next year and will not be there forever? Further, my wildcard for the Governor's Race is Bill Daley. The Speaker and the Mayor are joined to the hip on one thing, POWER. Although the Mayor controls everything within the City of Chicago and to a lesser extent Cook County (with Chairman Daley, his brother and his puppet Todd Stroger), he really does not have total control in Springfield. If he did, Gun Control would have been passed and he would have his little Chicago Casino. The Mayor, like everyone else, still has to go through the Speaker for State Matters. Now with Lisa and the Speaker in power for Illinois, the Mayor wouldn't know what to do. As a result, if one powerful Chicago Family tries for total power and another Chicago Family may try the same thing.

I am predicting that this budget mess will be filled with the Speaker and the Senate Pres cutting their own deal and shoving it down Quinn's throat in a take it or we will override you motion!

It looks like nobody will be marching in any parades this weekend. Also, the capitol bill which went to the Governor today can be sat on for 60 days. Why don't they just schedule 12 month sessions, what is the point of adjournment anymore!

Due to the fact that as an African American, I have six family members buried at Burr Oak and the fact that John Stroger is also buried at Burr Oak; at least you can take Tom Dart's name off of those possibly running against John Stroger's Son, Todd. According to Sheriff Dart, it will take at least anywhere from 4-6 months to complete this horrible crime scence and ID all the bodies. As a result, Sheriff Dart will not have time to run for County President and will run for re-election because he likes it. So don't throw President Todd Stroger under the bus yet. He has $1.3 million in his fund (as of the upcoming filing period) and between Preckwinkle, Brown and Danny Davis together they may be able to raise $40!

Now that Mayor Daley has basically voiced his disapproval of this new county law, are you anti-Stroger people going to beat up the Mayor as you do Todd Stroger. as i can see is Virtuozzo still a Hypervisor type 2 product and not a type one like ESX. I could be wrong do. That information seems hard to find. According to the technical information documant i see a host OS which makes it a hypervisor type 2 sollution. Not really comparable with ESX.

some of my socks have small holes in the heel. once they get bigger than about a half inch i chuck them though. can't stand holes in the toe area as whats more annoying than a toe getting stuck in it, right? kevin also has socks with holes.

I hate to say this but . . . don't blink! I just brought my firstborn home from the hospital (or so it seems!) and on Friday we went shopping for her grad gown. She's graduating from high school in June. And my baby turns eleven tomorrow. As she would say - YIKERS!

As much as you want it to slow down, time only speeds up as they grow and . . . WHOOSH . . . suddenly they're all grown up!

Take oodles of pictures. We wish now that we had bought a video camera when they were little.

Yeah, I quite agree and think this is going to be an ongoing battle for her until she comes to grips with her own eating issues. As well, it is the "Hollywood" image thing - look at those who have 1-2 kiddos and are back in figure hugging dresses 6 weeks later. BUT they have to be because those who fund the movies won't allow them to be hired for the roles if they are an ounce overweight - and these people claim that it is the "public" that wants it. Funny, but I consider myself part of the "public" and I personally don't care how much an actor/actress weighs but rather how well they play the part. Size does not necessarily = being a good actor.

So on now to the walking/running. I wasn't able to run today BUT I did walk an 18 course golf course carrying 3 kids golf sets. Does that count? ;)

I learned a long time ago that it is NOT what people say or think about you but how you chose to react to it. I lost that somewhere between the comfort of a good marriage and hitting 40 but I am regaining that. I've always been an emotional eater and have to re-learn all those things I taught myself 23+ years ago when I lost weight initially. It's a long struggle but it can be done. Positive thoughts and lots of hugs going your "weigh" :)

I live in Saskatchewan - province notorious for being 10 years behind on everything it seems - and we have fat free cheese here. Tastes like crap on it's own but it helps cut down on fat on a low fat healthy veggie pizza make on pita bread :) I buy it at Sobey's, Superstore and Safeway but I have also seen it at our little WalMart.

Many years back I was a paramedic on a large urban fire department that had us coming under control of the FF command and running out of engine houses, but otherwise treated us like bastard stepkids at a family reunion, to the point where our "quarters" were just some cleaned-out closet and we were denied use of the rest of the house, including the kitchen, but still assessed kitchen and Cable TV dues. (we were never in long enough to watch TV either...) We also weren't allowed to bring our cars into the house as the "real" firefighters did, so our stuff got broken into.< />< />That said, I'm not bitter towards nozzle jockeys. What's put on at the factory is usually good enough unless you're trying to make a match pistol, in which case you need the trigger done too. But changing to aftermarkets never works that well unless you have a good smith cutting the slide to ensure that they line up, hold point of aim, and don't come loose. Stick with what came with it because the factory knew what they were doing, and if you want to try modifications, a simple set of Hogue grips for about $20.00 will change the feel of the pistol and help you shoot tighter and straighter. Go Hogue.
