in My First Journal on Kolby Kirk Photography
:) It's always fun to see the first journal/diary that we ever wrote in. Mine was an ultra girly diary with a lock. I believe by the time I reached 19 - a few months after you, I was on my...sixteenth? Anyway, I will have to stroll over to Notebookism.com.

in Photo Similarities on Kolby Kirk Photography
I get very scared about some of the pictures I post up because they look soooo familiar to other pictures. But then again, it's probably those same pictures that inspired me to take the pictures that I take. (Does that make any sense? Yeah, I thought not.) :)

in A Treasure of Maps on Kolby Kirk Photography
:) The maps were from 20 years ago. I don't think I could bring myself to cut up a map that was 40 - 50 years old! :) I think I have to dig up my parents National Geographic Issues. They are probably gathering dust in the basement.

I'm working on showing off my book binding skills via flickr. :)

Would it disturb you too much to tell you that I cut up some National Geographic maps to help myself learn how to coptic bind books? I'm still getting the hang of it, but I liked how the end result turned out.

in Is blogging killing you? on TechBurgh
:)

Er....

I should qualify this...when I hit my "stride" the second year of blogging I was constantly online. I mean, constantly. My husband called it an addiction.

However, since I have changed positions, I'm not doing my blogging (writing and reading) at work...like I used to. I do it in the mornings after breakfast and before I go out the door. I'm not as obsessed with finding out what everyone did last night/this morning/five years ago. And that google reader really does help me skim through a lot of posts.

in Experimental: Find bloggers near you on TechBurgh
I suppose Pittsburgh has a very active blogging community. I never stopped to think why though. Something to think about throughout my day.

Yes and no.

Yes, it would be very cool to find bloggers within 30 feet of me. No, it would not be cool to find bloggers 30 feet of me. We may have common interests but it doesn't necessarily mean that I'll like them. (Taking out the fact that I'm a bit of a misanthrope and very shy to boot.)

However, finding the services you need quickly? I can see the use in it.

in Publish or Perish. True Dat. on Not To Be Trusted With Knives
You're very right about academia not being the only ones who need to publish or perish. Non-profits are constantly writing grants in order to stay afloat. I'm sure there are others, but since that it my "area of expertise" it came to mind first.

Thanks for the picture credit! It's weird to see my pictures up on other people's blogs!
