That's going too far. So if I have a cooking blog, I'm not allowed to have an interest in and participate in discussion in, say, technology or SEO?
The main thing is that commentors come and have something relevant to contribute isn't it? Who cares if the commentor has a sewing blog? Maybe their day job is in the area they are commenting on, or maybe they are just interested.

Re: iPhone Haterz

I never bought in to the whole Apple thing. However, as a long time NeXT user I finally broke down and bought a Mac after OS X had been out for a year. I was a convert in no time. I bought an original iPod and loved it. If someone above you at the workplace asks you to take on a specific task for them, they are asking you because they think you are capable and won't let them down.
Do not damage your prestige by not taking these opportunities to reinforce that person's trust in you. If you decline these opportunities they will disappear, and someone else will gain the prestige that could be yours.

Re: Commenting on blogs to get traffic to your website

The right blog can send a lot of traffic your way, but I think generally you'll only see a few curious spectators who follow comment links.
