There is no required state-wide drivers ed. You just have to pass the test to get a license. No class.
You can still read and send texts, twitter, etc at stoplights or any other time your car is stopped. According to this bill however, you can still browse the web at 70 MPH, so long as no two-way messaging of any kind is involved. Twitter, email, and text are out though.
And yes, everything in this bill (plus a whole lot more) was already covered under existing distracted driver laws (along with changing songs on your iPod, reading the paper, etc)
This bill was poorly written waste of time and tax payer money.

of course, the ironic part is that the Predators celebrated 10 years last year 1998-2008, but only played 9 seasons due to the strike. :-)

Um... not to play up dumb jock stereotypes...but does someone want to point out to the shirt/hat designer that 2008 - 1999 = 9 years?

Yeah, I thought the photo was worth posting for that reason alone. I just... don't get it.

I'm going tonight for sure.
And Christy's right - the Hordichuck trade was a good thing... as was the Mason trade this morning and signing Dan Ellis.
Big day in "Pred Nation" (as Paul McCann calls us).

Having a "geek" meetup on the night that Indiana Jones premiers?
This from the same group that has a "geek breakfast" ridiculously early in the morning.
I don't know many true, classic geeks that would skip Indiana Jones for drinks or get up and meet people for breakfast at 7:00am.
Lots of Twitterers, mommy bloggers, and maybe a few IT professionals - who are great by the way, not slamming them - but not many died-in-the-wool geeks.

I think i may have someone who can do the sports portion for you. I'll talk with him tomorrow. I would do it but 1) i'm too sporadic and 2) i'd only write about the Preds

in As if we needed further proof that the Star Spangled Banner is a crappy choice for a national anthem. on WebSlog
Totally agree.
I got chills when she held the mic up to the crowd - and i've never been farther north on this continent than New York City.
My wife (who is a vocalist, i am not) frequently talk about this. It is particularly sad at the Olympics where you get to see all the other countries great anthems with decent vocal ranges and easy to sing lyrics.
I wonder what it would take to have it changed at this point. It has only been our anthem since 1931
Oh - and it wasn't written to recount "a battle from the war from which we were born" - it was written during the war of 1812

I wonder if we could just pick another melody to sing it to. Something written by John Williams probably.
