Awesome piece. I too am completely bewildered at how long it is taking for America to wake up. I learned some time ago that you cannot trust people like Bushco to not turn on you as well when the situation suits them. That is what so many Americans have not truly understood because their hand had not touched them yet...I think a lot of people are getting touched up pretty good right about now. And they are starting to see that no matter what they may say, what they do shows they have no sense of loyalty to anyone but themselves. I think the tide is turning and we have to keep speaking out and bringing these truths into the consciousness of American sleepwalkers. What else can we do but keep on trying?
You are doing a great job of making a case for sanity, truth and justice.

Pat butt-chanon said the other night on Rachel Maddow that history will redeem Palin and remember her as the heroine of the right that she is...of course Rachel was laughing her ass off at him but still it is somehow very sad that our country is burdened by having to negotiate these human obstacles known as right wingers. Such a waste of time and energy. Where is the rapture when you really need it...I for one could do without them around anymore.

yeah...good point. She is a quick study and it did not take her long to go from we want to reach out to inciting a lynch mob mentality that was just smoldering and waiting for a charismatic hockey mom to pour some gas on it.

it's truly a sad thing to see. Makes me wonder how my grandparents must have felt when they witnessed the horror of racism first hand in their day. I don't know but I like to think they would have been as sickened by it as I am today.

I just read that over at http://pacifiedcitizen.com/ and am about to post the olbermann video where he takes Palin apart on the hypocrisy of her attacks on Obama regarding Ayres when she actually is part of a terrorist group. I guess it it isn't terrorism if you are Sarah Palin though. This woman is vile, divisive and dangerous. She appeals to the absolute worst fears in people and that is not what this country needs.

this clearly needs to be part two of my Racism is for idiots post.

it is so hard to remember they are people too.. granted, people who think they have the right to decide for all of us...but people none the less...even though it is hard to take the high road with them I guess we have to or we become like them. glad you avoided the den of hypocrisy known as the Mccain/palin tent. Just walking past them at the NC State fair gave me the creeps.

Yes...we all know that there are people who hate us...some of us are honest enough to admit our own policies toward the rest of the world have brought a lot of anger toward us rightly...We cannot point out how wrong others are while we pretend we are faultless. Being able to look at those faults in our own national character is critical to our survival. I know many Americans think if they are G.I. Joe enough that will solve everything...it won't...it never has. It takes more than blindly waving the flag and pretending we don't see it... it takes being honest with ourselves about ourselves. I think you may be trusting our own American theocratic fascists way too much. While they point at "them" they are stealing you blind and laughing at you all the way to the bank. And lastly, I guess somehow getting past 9/11 would be completely out of the question? Sometimes holding onto hate and anger just perpetuates it. Learning from it and letting it go is the only thing that can heal it and stop the pain, but a lot of people believe they wouldn't have anything if they don't have their anger and pain. 9/11 has been prostituted by the Republican party since the moment it happened and it should come as no surprise to anyone they are still doing it today. At least they are consistent. Americans like that in a corrupt government.

I think it is a statement on not only where the main stream media thinks our heads are but also that it has become their job to point us in that mindless direction at every opportunity. What has really stunned me these past few days is the response from ordinarily progressive minded women regarding the selection of Palin as the repub vp hopeful. Women are biting all over the pond at the repubs shiny new "it's a woman" lure. Critical thinking is being hopelessly hooked by the lip...it is a sad thing to witness, I think Palin is being used by the same ideology she subscribes to rather than this being an evolutionary leap in consciousness on the right. I think it is a pretty good bet she is not on the ticket to disagree with their platform.
