Ugh. Just wrote a comment, and your blog ate it. ... You can re-do the floors yourself. Even if they look alright, a good sanding and revarnish will make them look fabulous. Dan just did our dining room and it looks beautiful. All you need to do is rent the sander from Home Depot fort the day (like 50 bucks) and get the stain and sealer. Call me for more info if you want. I'm not re-writing it all again :)

endonend Sorry about that, Marge. I've changed the commenting system to the one I use on my blog. Have gotten a bunch of 'site ate my comments' complaints over the last few months. Hopefully this helps.

in Speaking of Religion and Politics… on End * on * End
I'm glad you pointed out at the end of your post the once respected rule of 'separation of church and state'. Why have Americans forgotten this concept? Also, it appears that my favored canidiate is not yours, which I already knew, but I thought I'd throw that in anyway. Although I tend to steer clear of political discussions, I always find it interesting how much candidate bashing goes on during the campaigns. I think it's pretty safe to say that they all have screwed up in the past, they all have flopped on the issues and they all have lied at some point in their career to make themselves look better. That being said, I don't care who they worship or what religious establishment they attend. As long as they are not an extremist in any way, I think having diverse presidents from a plethora of religious and cultural backgrounds is beneficial to the US. May the best woman (or man) win! ;) (PS - I won't BO-bash you, so please don't H-Bash me!!)

It would even be nice if Simonson had any type of animal/science background, if not one of human health... Seeing that this strain of the avian flu is a zoonotic disease, he would at least have some real idea of the devastating impact this could have on humans and birds (agriculture industry), other that just what he's read-up-on to make himself appear to be knowledgable on the topic.

Thanks goodness we have federal and state specialists taking steps to safeguard against the introduction of this deadly strain of the disease into the United States. :) We can rest somewhat easier knowing that emergency response plans, as well as erradication and quarantine efforts have already been layed out, long before Simonson came along, in preparation for an outbreak situations. Many educated and caring people are trained for situations like this.

Check out this USDA link for the basics.. and also remember, USDA lost a lot of it's domestic work force/mission fighters (who deal with these types of issues after they become established in the US) to Bush's Dept. of Homeland Security. Another ingenious idea. hmpf...
