My father is an accountant and has helped me in the past with this very issue. I offer you these words of advice:

1. When you receive any money via Internet earnings (affiliate earnings, advertisement earnings, etc.), put a certain % of it straight into an account that earns interest. You will need this money to pay taxed on your earnings. The % you decide to put away should be whatever your tax bracket is.

2. Save all receipts on all expenditures. That means office supplies, computer needs, internet costs, phone costs ... anything that can be filed as business related, keep evidence and you will be able to deduct those costs.

Think of what you are doing on the Internet as a Business. You are accountable for everything you earn and spend, and if you keep track of it throughout the year you will save a lot of hassle come April.

This is a great post, although I feel like most people who ask these questions are still going to be so in awe of the check size that they won't realize that you have to spend money to make money.

I thought about taking down my BlogRush widget, but instead I just moved it down to the bottom of my page. I dont spend any time or energy promoting it so I will leave it for now, but if things dont change rapidly I will take it down.
And personally, I have not clicked on a single post on it yet, which makes me wonder how many other people click through. After seeing Jim Kukral's click through rate the other day, me thinks not many

One of the clients I am doing marketing work for had three variations of their domain name and I tested all three of them through three different PPC engines. Through the testing I came to find that there was one specific domain name that was the most successful across all the PPC engines being used. I then made the change to that one domain name across all avenues and have experienced greater CTR and conversion rates.

Commission structures for affiliates seems to be a case of follow and be followed. There really aren't too many programs that stray from the industry standard
