in Donncha’s MU Domain Mapping Revised Release on John D Turner
Is that to avoid having to login again on the backend? What about image uploads? Do they have the mu url or the mapped url?
John Turner I did it to brand the backend of my mu install, and also I wanted the images and other assets to have the mu url so that if domain mapping was turned off or changed the images and other assets would still work.

I also modified it to use www , which I don't really like, but I want people to create cname records instead of A record so I can move my IP around if I need to, I haven't released that mod yet, Not sure if I will. I don't want to step on your plugin toes.

I just really made these mods for my personal needs and someone asked me for it so i released it. Is that OK?

in What’s Been Bugging you in Ubuntu 8.10? | Tombuntu on Tombuntu
I think I can claim the weirdest bug. In the spreadsheet in Open Office, moving the cursor would repeat the last "action". If I deleted a cell with backspace, every cell I moved the cursor over would delete.
If I typed "hello world" into a cell, that same string would appear as I moved the cursor about. Bizarre.

I also had the pulse audio bug, sound in Firefox and writing/mounting DVDs.

The killer bug for me was my Xbox 360 joypad not working. It worked briefly but then the next day it was broken again.

I even blogged about it I got so annoyed at Ubuntu. I have managed to fix all the problems except the joypad. That's really annoying me. :(

Tried the first idea with the config file and Google apps like Reader and Gmail look horrible on my LCD monitor. I'll be reverting back once I get a chance.

in Did WordPress check submitted plugin ? on I'm Knight
The best thing to do would be to write a post to the support forum of the plugin asking the author to remove the link. I have done so, and if the plugin isn't updated it will be removed the WordPress.org

Thanks for blogging about it.

Good find! I used a similar frontend on the Mac but this is much handier as all my media and drives are on my Linux box :)

Stumbled too!

That's pretty neat! They just need some way of attracting teenagers who'll leave silly comments on the wall and ground underneath ..

Cool. I recently blogged that I had to turn Compiz off so I could use sdlmame but if it can be switch on or off without restarting X then it's worth trying this. Thanks for posting.

Hehe. The fish comes back even after clicking on it but I guess I can live with it until I logout.

Stumbled this post!

in Is Plaxo now selling the personal contacts Scoble harvested? - Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist on Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist
I'd love to say I'm surprised this happened, but I'm not. The mania for adding friends on sites like Facebook had to lead to someone abusing the system. I'm glad it was Robert Scoble who did it because the issue is wide open now.

It sort of reminds me of how photographers react when their images are misused. Maybe we need a licensing scheme for personal data now? An "all rights reserved" for family information perhaps, and some sort of CC license for business information? Crazy idea?

Nope, just want a phone that makes calls and has some sort of camera. I work from home and if I travel I drive so I rarely have an opportunity to use a handheld mobile device.

in optimizing airports - Digging in a Habari sandpit on Comments for 'Blog in isolation'
Great tips Andy! I had to endure the puffing-air-machine in San Francisco last year and I wasn't sweating and nervous. Thankfully the international departures lounge of SFO (like most American cities I've been in) is fairly empty and I didn't lose my place in the queue.

Another tip, especially on long haul flights, is to book an aisle seat. Window seats are overrated!

in how to display Google shared items on WordPress - Digging in a Habari sandpit on Comments for 'Blog in isolation'
Wow, the hoops you had to jump through to get that working! One of these days I will make more of an effort to check out Google Reader, but I'm more than happy in Bloglines right now.

That video was insane though, I really would have smacked that computer one if I had spent 10 minutes of my life doing what he did :)
