in Why I’m Mad at Miley Cyrus on Live.Awake
i don't blame the 15 year old, but i do blame every adult involved. this should be illegal, i don't see how this could possibly be acceptable to anyone.

Ralph??!! Are you kidding? He eats his own boogers.

I'd vote for Otto before I'd vote for Ralph.

i was under the impression that Bell's theology has been going "there" for quite some time now.

When i read velvet elvis, it really spoke to me, but at the same time, it also raised some read flags.

then i checked out many of the references that he gives in the biliography for that book and more red flags were raised.

personally, i'm for planting rather than reforming. reforming is a big headache and all too often, a dead end road resulting in a big mess.

thanks for the review. i read this book when it came out. i've been lax to review it for fear that the perception would be that this book is the namesake for my site, which it isn't. though i do find myself in much of the book.

That is too funny. The Joel Osteen implements, I mean. And I think you got those comments because you actually stated a personal opinion on the matter rather than just relaying the information.

in Ask Mark Driscoll ANYTHING on djchuang.com
yea, the first clue might have been the theologically heavy wording of some of the questions at the top of the list. i've heard that certain pastors are encouraging their congregations to stuff the ballot box.

in Joel Osteen Bashing on Live.Awake
here is the clip of Osteen stumbling through the Larry King interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfwYU2pmWYQ

Also, I think there is a difference between calling someone a heretic, or calling someone out on their sin, or calling into question someone's character AND picking apart the message of prosperity that they are teaching.

I didn't feel like Driscoll went after Osteen's character and person, but rather, went after the message itself.

That Office clip was great. Which brings me to an inevitable question: How are you watching Grey's Anatomy (Nighttime Soap Opera) while The Office is on?

Can you clarify something for me? When you say "we" are doing a Beth Moore Bible Study, who is the "we" referencing?

in Missional Church on Live.Awake
"most non-Christians can't even begin to relate to them." - Tim Keller

That is well-said.

When I throw a party at my house and almost 50 people attend, it can often be challenging to figure out who the Chritians are and who the non-Christians are. There are some obvious give-aways: like the girl wearing the "Christian" t-shirt, or the guy who is drunk and slurring F-bombs.

But I love the fact that, for the most part, my non-Christian friends are relating to my "normal" Christian friends without knowing any better.

Then later, when I tell them that half of the people at the party were Christians, they are pleasantly surprised to find that these people were quite "normal",easily able to conversate, and actually had more than a few things in common with them.

We try to throw at least 4 big parties each year. If every Christian I knew threw these kind of "open-invite" parties on a semi-regular basis, the Christian life would actually be fun, and possibly even attractive. Not to mention, I'd get to go to a lot of parties.

in Halloween–What to do? on Live.Awake
Halloween is significant because it is the one night of the year that almost 100 of my neighbors will come right up to my door with their children in tow, uninvited.

We want to be remembered by the children and appreciated by the parents, so we give a bag of toys like hot wheels (somewhat expensive), superballs, yo-yos, etc. to the younger children, and we give king size candy to the older kids (we'll get a couple big boxes at Sam's Club). We seriously drop a dime on this venture as it is a huge opportunity for relationship building.

We make it a point to sit in our front yard out near the sidewalk. We've learned from the past that the parents will send their children up to the door and stay out by the sidewalk, therefore giving us no opportunity to meet the parents.

By sitting out near the sidewalk, we have the opportunity to engage the adults in conversation, or at least introduce ourselves by name. We are neighbors after all. We've gotten to know quite a few of our neighbors this way.

Vintage 21 does Pub Theology. They are up in your neck of the woods in NC. They just hosted the most recent Acts 29 Boot Camp last week.

I checked out your church site.

I must admit, that I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the flags.

ha ha please.
It is a shame that there isn't usually a complete Gospel presentation at most of the churches that I've visited during my Church Field Tips that I report on on my site.
We've had a bit of discussion on the definition of the Gospel because of my comments on these churches "falling short".

Ben. Ben. Ben.

The "What's the deal with Jesus" link is just plain genius. You'll see something similar on my site, labeled "The Gospel". We're both using the Driscoll presentation, with one exception.

Mine is an external link to a myspace.com/video page and yours is embedded internally. You have got to tell me how you did that. Please Please Please. I hate to beg, but I will.

in Two Enemies of the Gospel on Live.Awake
all too often the problems come from within. we are usually our own worst enemy, both personally and corporately. sometimes i feel like driscoll is a whistleblower among pastors.

he seems to excel at blowing the covers off from beneath which the pastors are hiding.
