Most of the LBC needs a face-lift anyway.

Long Beach is positioned in the 46th district as the dumping ground for everything not wanted in Orange County. Long Beach citizens in the 46th district don't have a voice in Congress.

Dave in Alamitos Beach you hit the nail on the head, it seems Dana Rohrbacher could care less about the LBC's beaches and wetlands. Look into the restoration of Bolsa Chica for example, it wasn't the "Port of Huntington Beach" that paid for it, it was our port. With this in mind, compare Bolsa Chica with Los Cerritos, the LA river, the San Gabriel river.

It would be so bad if our city got some of the port money... but we don't. We are getting the shaft.

....Or how about damning the river and pumping it all back where it came from.

Maybe they were Al Qaeda Lobsters - lets not be so quick to judge the officers involved.

Bunker fuel needs to go the way of leaded gas. It is not just burned in ships, but tractors, and other heavy equipment.

Ironic that several area black youths opted to shoot, stab, rob and otherwise piss on MLK's grave this weekend.

in SCHIPSKE’S COURAGEOUS PROPOSALS TAKE ON THE PORT’S POWERFUL STATUS QUO | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
Thanks for the info Dave. I am stoked to have an "LA / OC Weekly- like" alternative voice in Long Beach.

I know the port paid to restore Bolsa Chica for mitigation credits (used to offset pollution that Long Beach deals with). However, The Los Cerritos Wetlands, The LA River, and San Gabriel River have been ignored. Bolsa Chica is set for another huge restoration. Maybe this would make a good story? I am not a reporter, but we trust you guys to expose the truth.

Along the same lines...Just because you can bring kids into Joe Josts doesn't mean you should. It is not called "Jost-E-Cheese" for a reason.

This could be the answer for many of Long Beach's housing problems!!! Are they bullet proof? How about fire proof? How many bums fit in them?

Dude, I'm serious, I only support an NFL stadium in Long Beach if they promise to host a Monster Truck rally.

If you build it, they will come. We already assist a huge transient population in this city and I am proud of out compassion. However, in terms of transient services, public and private, we bear a greater share than surrounding cities, especially those on the on the other side of the Orange Curtain. They need to recognize they are also responsible for this social issue.

Dude, I'm all for an NFL stadium, as long as they promise to host a MONSTER TRUCK rally at least twice a year.

in DELONG, DANA (AND THEIR CONSTITUENTS) UNREPRESENTED AT BREAKWATER FORUM | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
Thank you District Weekly for keeping an eye on Dana Rohrabacher. Of all the areas he represents, I believe Long Beach is on the bottom of his list. He is our Congressman, so I would like him to explain how mitigation credits were given to the ports of LA & LB in exchange for funding for the Bolsa Chica Wetlands restoration (in Rohrabacher's home city of HB) while worthy environmental needs exist in LB (Los Cerritos and the LA River for example).
