I think what it is that everyone wants the fast buck and the fame that goes with handing out the next fake Rodney King video. You have the fact that if the cops are there well you did something to attract there attention and deserve what happens to you. The first thing I was taught when we where young is to treat authority with respect. I have been stopped and asked questions many times when I was younger and always when they where treated with respect had no problem when you get a little mouthy is when there was problems. Everyone wants to claim that they where treated unfairly and you are the problem. If a cops tells you to get out and lay down on the ground do it don't question it. I think that is the problem as they say "back in the day" you would not see anyone really questioning the cops because you could get cracked in the head and it was not a big deal. Now because of video everyone is a little tougher. I also know that there is always a bad apple or two out there but I would bet that if everyone did what they where told and not run there mouth that everything would be different.

This is a great event I went last year and this is about helping animals not the negative responses. If everyone is here for the animals then they would want everyone to show up and help out as many animals as they can and send them to a home and not a cage and to update all there information so that they can find there animals as fast as possible.

Just stop it all now it is an embarrassment to the buisness.

If only your time was spent working while being paid to do so none of this would be happening. Instead you choose do do people like this. You all have obviosuly spend so much time not working and drumming things up not handleing business and it's all everyone elses fault. I have spent more time trying to get these nasty things removed that have individuals names on it because it's disgusting. The City is only interested in the "alleged" brutality and negelct not this gossip and personal hatred you have for each other.
Please stop all of it and wait for what ever it is you are waiting for. In the end I hope you get nothing because you all don't deserve it.

I told Victor to put the dog into the holding cage so I can sedate him.

The dog was flipping around and fighting so much that my syringe needle bent and I had to replace it before administering the drug. I lost my footing on a pool of blood as I walked across the room. I administered the drug and the dog was put the dog in the holding cage

You administered after the problem not before like you stated again forgot what you said.

Sgt. Linn reminded me of a dog that I had to sedate because it was too vicious to even get out of his vehicle. I remembered this dog well. I thought it to be one of the most vicious dogs that I have ever seen.

He told me, “You should probably Telazol it in the cage”. I agreed and then headed over to the Euthanasia Room to prep it for a usually busy euthanasia day.


I was putting the sedative on the syringe pole and Victor said, “Let me try to get him first”. I told him that he was not going to be able to get the dog and I needed to sedate the dog in the cage. Again, he insisted that he will try it first and if not then we can do it in the cage. He left the room with the rabies pole.


I looked over toward the back door and saw Victor fighting and pulling with the dog on the rabies pole.

WHERE in your own report posted on this web site does it say that you sedated the dog at any time. I just went back and read it and it no way shape or form does it say that you sedated the dog and this is posted from you Christine. So if that is you then get your facts STRAIGHT before you go and say something or did you forget what you put down to cover yourself. RVT stand up and take charge of what has happened and stop passing the buck.

I heard they had a bear problem in big bear with a grizzly wonder if lbc could send up there rvt to help since she is such a pro.

LB Health Tech....was not doing her job. You will face the music if you return. You did say some truth. Wes was the scapegoat..The the officer that is suspended is partly because of you..YOU the person in charge of the euthanasia room and does what is necessary for the safety of staff and humane treatment of the animals. MUCHO OFFicer "V" to do the what was told to The impounding officer pointed that out on the card...sedate this dog. Owners were afraid of this dog and the dog was sedated to be transported to the shelter... There is no place for Mucho Man at the shelter...or mucho attitudes. Learn form this mistake...and take some of the responsibility for these mistakes..
Long Beach Animal Control is one of the best shelters to work for. Lets not lose sight of what shelters have to cope with on a daily basis.
Lets write letters to increase all staffs pay and increase staffing.....

I now understand that out of college it could be a stepping stone. It sounded as if you where a bit older and wondered about that choice as a career that as you stated a fair pay.

as you can see I got the answer I wanted a stepping stone to moving on and doing better things and is now happy. So sit there shut up and be unhappy. He had the smarts and moved on when he had enough because he was educated and that is what I was looking for. 100% am I saying that someone with a degree that goes to all the trouble to go to college goes out to make the most money they can and too not take a job that is limited on there pay scale and how fast they move up the ladder it is a very odd choice but as a resume builder and a stepping stone we have all taken that job just to build the resume too grow our selves and our pay scale. But you who sits there bitching and unhappy.

Hello Long Beach and Los Angeles

Do you know the reality of what is happening in the shleters? Are you aware of how many pets are being put to sleep? Are you aware of WHY this is happening? What, as a society , can we do about it? LBAC is given the job of controlling the population. Keeping the animals off the street, so the public is safe, etc. We need laws to enforce mandatory neuter. We need less pets coming in to the shelter. Everyone wants to blame the kill rate on the shleters. What about pet stores? What about backyard breeders?

Most people in LB are clueless to the massive massive overpopulation in this town. And when they hear of pets being put to be sleep they blame the shelter. Well, the shelter did not breed and abandon that pet folks.

However, the animals must be treated humanely while at the shelter.

Mandatory spay and Neuter at all levels.

I am an Eagle Scout, have a Bachelor’s degree in biology — option in zoology — and worked at Long Beach Animal Control for more than two years

I do have a couple of questions.
What does it matter if you are a Eagle Scout?
You have a bachelor's degree and wanted to be a ACO what gives?
Did none of the zoo's want to hire you?
Just reading the story and a little lost in why someone with a degree would take a job that I don't think you have to have a degree to do. Before you say it that it was for the animals well the animals don't pay your bills so give me a real answer.
