In order to even rise to the level of average, I had a few things to do.

#1: I got an exclusive message: Ten Day Service, guaranteed. This is unique and novel, and semi exclusive.

#2. I marketed to Realtors, because they have one to many relationships, and they are in charge of this sort of thing.

#3. I stay on message--banner to carry, story to tell.

Now, my business is big. Most people don't ask for a mortgage in ten days, but because I say that that's what I do,they figure that I can get theirs done, no problem.

I also think it's time for a holiday challenge: Make December 20% above average. This is for service providers, Realtors, and individual practitioners. People go into holiday mode and are no longer accountable.

Let's make 'em.

Best, SEE YOU.

Re: Anti-Snob Wine Appreciation: 7 Tips from Sonoma

I knew someone that came in my watering hole for her Ruinite all of the time. I think that part of it is hopelessness, people don't figure that they can ever get the house caught up, but they want to sustain their credit cards. Who knows.

I know someone with an 1900/month house payment. That house was foreclosed. There are people that are within 3 doors of each other in the same company having vastly different experiences. It's attitude, effort, and belief.

The absolute beauty of this business is that--at most--you're 45 days away from a massive check. And--no matter what, you're 100 days away from a radically better life. That's the promise, and why, even now, it's still the best business to be in.

Re: What Good Is Tenure?

@Todd very cool. Snowing lenders does not epitomize where we want to be as leaders in the industry. Getting rid of 'accurate' information is pretty shady--at best.

But there is zero benefit to being involved with this. ZERO. It puts me in a categoryo f losers. If I discovered identity theft, I referr them to the deaprtment of commerce and my contact tat the FBI. Their paperwork is meaningful.

Re: A self Test for Loan Officers

agreed on most points (but let's also say that loan officers doesn't need an apostrophe). Would Dan Green? No. What you're going to be getitng is rookie loan officers that are not really well qualified to serve customers. I wouldn't like to be in a 'race to the bottom' situation with other MBs, it would waste MY time.

So, consumers are going to compare loan officers without knowing what the percentages are. Without knowing if the LO closes on time (or has to delay everything).

I'm a Zillow Fan, but this kind of 'give me a quote,' deal is going to give you mediocre originators who think they can do it cheaper, customers with an antagonistic attitude...

where is the mechanism to price for delays? To offer superior service?

There's a lot to love about the model (background checks, for instance), but there's a lot Zillow is going to have to do. When Bankers are bored, you win.

Re: A Couple of “Worst of” Lists: Not Where the Phoenix Real Estate Market Wants to Be

Jay-

Congrats on being in the top ten.
