It's great to see everyone so enthused about promoting each other and all of the great Japan content on the web.

Re: Daily Travel Photo - Yakushima, Japan

Lovely shot Gary. I might try to attend next year but the crowds intimidate me although I've never had a problem with them. People are very polite, for the most part, in Tokyo.

Re: Boring lunch beaten by bento

Impressive. I have been known to make bento out of dinner left-overs too! Somehow when you take the time to prepare a bento, even if it's from leftovers, the food seems to taste better. I still have a hard time with room temperature food that is 'supposed' to be hot though.

Re: Learning Japanese: Kana

I taught myself katakana first as I knew I could test myself on my understanding by reading many of the advertisements and product names in Japan. However, I think that you are on to something by learning hiragana first - I wish I had done it that way :)

I haven't even tackled Kanji yet.

Re: Where’d all the activity go?

Let me just say that I can understand the lack of posts. Can you still buy food and feed the pigeons there? My Dad has a scar on his belly that he used to tell us kids that he got in a sword fight. I believe him for a long time and thought he was so brave - turned out it was the scar from having his gallbladder removed!

Shane's last blog post..Yabusame - Japanese Archery

Re: Gangsta Cleaning

That's amazing Deas! I find some of the music that is popular here in Japan a little annoying but it is definitely better that gangsta rap. It's amazing that your administrator didn't do anything???

I'm not sure about now but many years ago they did not have ratings on the cd's in the stores here like they have at home and I let my step-son but a CD that I ended up banishing to his personal CD player because of the language. If we were in the US I would have made him return it or, because of the warning label, never purchased it for him in the fist place!

Re: Criminal

Glad to hear that you were treated fairly.
