in Brandon Rush Leaving on a High Note on Larry Brown Sports
The one-and-done rule is eliminating the integrity in collegiate athletics and making a mockery of the concept of student athletes.
As if these things ever existed in the first place.

in Q and A: ESPN’s Pat Forde on Inside the Hall
People, please: Trying to figure out who the biggest tool among Chris Berman, Colin Cowherd, and a host of other ESPN personalities is like trying to make value judgments about different religions. Let's just say that all of their merits*, and their relative claims to douchiness, and move on.
* Except Scientology. That's just nonsense.

We feel your pain. We're all pretty busy peeps, but we're working on getting more content up when possible.
One of the recurring themes on here seems to be the ability to post on whatever you want. I'll add that until we address this, feel free to comment on whatever you want under whatever thread. This goes especially for the end of the day when things have basically been discussed to their logical conclusion. So long as your announce your attentions, and are keeping things relatively within reason, I don't see why posting a threadjack here and there for the sake of conversation is a problem.

in Joakim Noah Not Working Out as a Pro on Larry Brown Sports
LB, you know I luv ya, but I think it's a little early to declare Noah's pro career a failure. Oh, and his response ("It doesn't make a difference") was him talking about his feelings, and that of course he doesn't like being benched by his teammates, but that he has to suck it up regardless. Noah's had a rough year so far, but he's also shown flashes of brilliance. Let's not bury him just yet.

Those unable to watch: I feel your pain. I'm doing the rare work-on-Sunday thing today, and couldn't get out of it. Planning on watching the game on DVR later, but I've been sneaking snippets here and there in the break room. Nervewracking stuff so far.

It looks like Moose is a Cubs fan too, A. I think he's talking about Sox fans' insecurity about their lack of attention in the Chicago area. But we'll get into that topic another time. :)

B-Side:
Great stuff. I was, actually, a little too young for that team, though thanks to the magic of Big Ten Network I've been able to see at least one of their games from that season. You're right: That was an offensively dominant team.
The feeling was great last night, wasn't it? I felt like a Memphis fan; strategy was so secondary to the talent gap, you didn't even have to stress over high screens or ball movement on offense. It was a breath of fresh air.

Good call. That definitely makes more sense. Apologies for the misinterp.
Socks:
Also a good call. I think there is in general a portion of old school fans -- not just in the IU fan base -- who take any sort of borderline unsportsmanlike play and turn it into a sign that our society's crumbling under our feet. Thankfully, I haven't heard much of that yet, but it always feel just around the corner.
Oh, and Maslow's: I haven't heard that since the one Psych class I was forced to take freshman year. Well done.

Alan:
I definitely am not one of the "I deserve a good IU team" people -- I hate those people too. Their haughty sense of entitlement makes want to kick them in the balls, presuming, of course, they're male and have said balls to kick.
By "We deserve better", I was just trying to say that it's unfair to everyone involved to waste the talent on this team with sloppy defense and the other ugly stuff two nights ago. I just think it would be a shame to waste this team by being disorganized.

And the announcing. I've heard not only a Noah's Ark reference, but just heard that Iowa's bench is "Kate Moss thin." It made me want to throw my HDTV through a window.

Agreed. I always complain when refs treat opposing stars differently (cough Dwayne Wade cough) but it sure is nice to have that guy be on your team.

For the purposes of the group, I will say that I've always had some trouble with SopCast, though I'm the only one I know that has. I might just be stupid.
Hyped for the game. Let's get it on.

Because we just did an Iowa Big Ten preview, we're not going to go back and re-hash just for today. There will be a game thread in a bit and the resumption of The Morning After tomorrow morning. Maybe even a podcast, too.

in ITH Super Happy Fun Time Big Ten Preview: Spartans of Michigan State on Inside the Hall
Tom:
Good call on Morgan. He's less of a "post player" than he is an interior scorer, or at least he was last year. I haven't seen him enough this year, beyond his numbers, to battle that assessment.
And Neitzel is a point guard insomuch as the Spartans use him to control the ball. Walton and Lucas bring it up the floor, but Neitzel's percentage of possession is much higher than Walton's, and slightly less than Lucas'. But yeah, I'll cop to having seen the Spartans but once this season, and that was the UCLA game. This was numbers-based, and I'll stand corrected on the Morgan stuff.

in Sampson scoffs at question about schedule on Inside the Hall
Ron:
Your stunning confusion at the purpose of this site aside, what do you think the above post is? It's Sampson speaking about the schedule. It's an item of interest. I really don't understand your quarrel here at all, but that's beside the point; the point is that you questioning A's basketball knowledge is hilarious.
Everyone else:
It's just a discussion. It's not blasphemy to suggest that IU's schedule is weak, just as it's not IU's fault the schedule is weak. It's just discussion. Have fun with it.

God forbid someone wonder about the schedule. I really like Sampson as a coach, but when he gets irritated in pressers, he's really no fun.

in ITH Super Happy Fun Time Big Ten Preview: Wildcats of Northwestern on Inside the Hall
Oh, and in Big A's defense, though Northwestern is a really slow team this year, they're also just blatantly inefficient. At that point, it's fair to say they're just bad, tempo-free or not.

in Is the non-conference schedule too soft? Yes, it is on Inside the Hall
Yeah, it's too weak, especially given the weakness of Kentucky and Ga. Tech. Last year Sampson talked a lot about the need for easy games to gain confidence, but this year it feels like overkill.
