I do hear from several bloggers that GoDaddy has several disadvantages. One in particular is moving away from it because of traffic restrictions and or down time. Another had to close a project, because the MySql server of GoDaddy protested agains some severe WP plugins...

Strange. Never had any problems personally. Anyway the whole point of this article can be used anywhere else. I believe most hosting companies have premium hostings. So the point is do not just go for the cheapest hosting option, think long term and it may just pay off like it did for me.

As to the widgets....the text widgets (referrals to Mybloglog and so on) I had installed in my 1,5 (approx 18 of them) didn't show up once I had installed 1.5.1.
I still have a copy of the 1.5 installation. Do you know which file is affected when you install or de install widgets? So that I can look there to copy and past the various scripts?
In order to know about faulty landings I have installed the 404 notifier plugin of Alex King which produces an excellent overview of faulty requests also from search bots, so you can weed out some problems but I don't understand every faulty request ... I was hoping the redirection plugin took me a bit further:-)
In the redirection plugin description It sez it gives good text to rewrite your .htaccess file....

@Happy Hotelier - Not sure really, never really had any issues with widgets. WordPress forums or Thesis forums might have something about it.

Just quick questions.
1)
Updated to thesis 1.5.1 before updating to wp 2.8.
Not all my 1.5 widgets went over. I presume you have to re install them or put them in the custom file:-)
2)
Do you or do you not need all in one wp seo package plugin with thesis (anymore)?
3)
Had installed the redirection plugin before. Had to take it away as it proceeded and endless loop in 1.5 with 2.7 . Any experience?

@Happy Hotelier - Didn't have any problems with my widgets, try to place them again. If you use All In One SEO for meta title, meta description, meta keywords of your articles, then you can just use the inbuilt feature in Thesis. It does the same thing.

Hi Marko,
Here I am again. Yes your tips are really useful!
Thoughts:
- Was trying to remember to which post I had commented. Waded through several posts with comments, yet didn't realize I had to scroll so far down:-)
Found out that it was this post through my comment subscription. so thanks @Allie
- If you have a teasers only frontpage, I would suggest you add at least post dates as the newbes like me have difficulty discerning which post was placed when in the que there.
- Would you mind to point me again to the code to get the page navigation row below the header?

@Happy Hotelier - All my articles are listed chronologically. And you also have my archive of all articles I have written at http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/create-a-blog-st... . You can easily locate all my Thesis articles at http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/thesis/ . This is the correct article for that tip. Look all the way up on the top of the page, it is listed under "Place menu underneath header".

First I plunge head first in the Thesis 1.5 theme. Tweak my blog a bit. Find that my post gets picked up on Google. See people visit my blog via the search and find this blog with some excellent thoughts and tips. Will be visiting more:-)

Good but not great, rss monetization won't work too well since I doubt feedreaders (read: non google) will validate or include Google's ads in the display of content.
