in How The Health Blogosphere Was Scammed on Better Health
I was lucky enough not to fall prey. I was not aware of their activity, especially to this level.
I have seen the Wellsphere badge on numerous blogs I visit.
What a shame.

in When Did Diet And Exercise Become “Alternative Medicine?” on Better Health
Isn't it just amazing that we are now on the threshold of the most obese nation, and all of a sudden diet and health are somehow new??
Hmm?
Could it be that most of the diseases that our nation is suffering from could be thwarted and darn near prevented with just a lil bit of common sense in regards to a healthy diet and exercise.
Grr.

in Sanjay Gupta As Surgeon General? Not So Fast on Better Health
I think there might be more to the story. Or should I say I hope. Very concerning to pick a high profile 'celeb' reporter, when the duty calls for lots of 'GRAVITAS', which is something he might be lacking.
I'll be interested to see how this turns out.
Interested... and a lil worried.

in What To Do When Mistakes Happen on Better Health
Mistakes, while massively preventable DO happen. That's why they are called mistakes.
The only way of ensuring the continued prevention is full disclosure no matter how minimal or how severe the mistake may be.

While to err is human, to admit your err is humane and just.

in Hospital CEO Leads By Example on Better Health
That takes my breath away. Nothing can earn you more respect than something as simple as showing you care by doing the job that needs to be done.
STRONG WORK.
Where's that hospital?! I'd work for him.

in Medical Tourism: Dr. Val Chastised By The American Medical Association on Better Health
There is a certain level of 'comfort' albeit ~ 'comfort care' I need when receiving medical care.
I would be hard-pressed to entertain the medical tourism idea.
Thanks for the information, as you can tell, I was not aware of this option.

in Surgeon General’s Warning: Obesity Is A National Security Issue on Better Health
"Retaining EMS, police, firemen, soldiers, sailors, and airmen has been challenging because many of them can’t pass their physical fitness tests due to obesity and sedentary lifestyles" ~ Extremely disheartening and disturbing to learn that this is problem actually exists.
Practice what you preach kind of health care is slipping right through our fingers.
Great post!

in Patients Aren’t Looking At Hospital Quality Data - But They Should Be on Better Health
I would be willing to guess most patients just 'assume' the quality of their healthcare providers. We as a society will do background checks for babysitters... but yet it's a 'shock' or 'uncommon' practice to check our physician or hospital's credentials.

Very interesting.

Once again we discuss the subtle but major difference between theoretical applied medical science and evidence based practice.
It may sound good.. and even look good. But has it been trialed.
Thanks again for the oh-so appropriate timing of this article.
