Heh cool :)
As far as call recording goes, my hunch says no. When it starts calling, it's actually doing so from the phone's dialer app, which means that my app is forced to quit - no background processes allowed! :(

I have an iPhone app currently being reviewed for the App Store which basically works as a SayNoTo0870 dialer.
You dial the 0870 number as usual, but when you hit call it goes off and finds a cheaper number and calls that instead. It's been "in review" for 9 days now, so hopefully it'll appear on the App Store any day now. It's called "0870".

I guess the problem is, how many of your friend's numbers do you know? I can't think of a single number, other than my own, that I would remember in order to use this handset...

Speaking of replacing the phonebook software, I finally got around to working on an idea I had. It's iPhone only at the moment, but in the future...?

It'll figure out if you're going to call an 0870 number (or anything else that doesn't usually come out of your free minutes), and will go off and find a cheaper one for you.

If this was an Android app, it could totally replace the default phonebook software. THAT would be cool...

I've just tried logging in with my OpenID, but once I've done that it still asks me to register in order to "connect" my account. Doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of OpenID?

in Blyk goes from zero to 100k members in 6 months on Mobile Industry Review
I don't think people in Blyk's target age range would necessarily pay £20/month. I'm now on O2, and for £20/month I get 400 minutes and 1000 texts, plus unlimited O2 to O2 calls (on the Simplicity tariff).
That's more than enough for *most* people, so why would you choose to receive ads and have less than 300 minutes/texts in total, when you can have more than you'll ever need (and therefore never have to worry about reaching your limit) for exactly the same price?

Simon I agree the simplicity tariffs are amazing, the only problem is the new handset issue! The adverts do not bother me and maybe BLYK could explore a possibility of contracts (post pay)!
Ewan
Well Simon that's a good perspective. I was trying to think of an offer
that would tempt secondary users of Blyk -- like our very own Ricky -- to
swap their Voda/T-Mobile/Three/Orange accounts to use Blyk exclusively.
