in Could Cost Per Action Overtake Cost Per Click? on Marketing Pilgrim
I read that article on Wed. with hope and optimism also thinking it might spur some more dialogue among the community. It was a great article, and I agree with Aaron's points. But one of the challenges, believe it or not, is that many marketers don't know the CPA value of their goal action (if the goal is a conversion). That is one thing we at Adapt have been trying to educate our PPC management tool customers about (because one of the tool's optimization strategies is based on target cost-per-acquisition.)
With that in mind, I liked particularly that Aaron highlighted that the "A" could be any Action - from video view to newsletter signup to the most-commonly-used current definition of "sale." If a broader definition is used (e.g. for many types of actions) then it might be easier for advertisers to truly follow that model & only pay for the actions they define.

in Landing Page Handbook & Seminar on Marketing Pilgrim
Looks awesome. It appears that they've upgraded this edition with more color. The thing with the older editions was that they were in black & white. The sherpa stuff is great and just keeps getting better.

in Funeral Home Plans a Social Network on Marketing Pilgrim
Yeah, I don't think I'd want other people to see my history of searches either...
About social networks for other types of sites - isn't it pretty much already happening with Ning? Granted, when I did a quick browse of the first few pages of Ning-powered social networks, I saw mostly "interest groups" and not specific sites, but surely there are some site-specific networks and hidden inappropriate ones (I don't have time to look though!)

in Californians Rejoice! Google Maps Now Understands Traffic Delays on Marketing Pilgrim
So true, this: "Most Californians know that you determine the length of a journey by the time it takes, not the distance."
I'm travelling from Pasadena to Marina Del Rey tonight for a WITI event, and although I know the trip is about 30 miles and estimated 40 min drive time, I *always* double it for traffic! For the record, the new Maps feature says "up to 1 hr 40 mins in traffic" for this journey.
I do think this is useful, but for most people who already account for traffic in their travel times, maybe not. And it seems that it's not real-time traffic reporting, just a note about "could take up to... in traffic." However, there is a "traffic" button on the map itself, so you can (I assume) see the realtime traffic! And there's always good ol' SigAlert.com as well :-)

in So Who Is Evil? Ted Murphy or Mike Arrington? on Sage Blogger
Yeah.. that was really rude of Arrington! I don't think PayPerPost is evil at all. Most bloggers do not feel compelled to write totally-positive reviews. And even in the blogger code of ethics, PPP says, "PayPerPost itself has no restrictions on how you express your genuine thoughts on an advertiser's product or service" contrary to Arrington saying "they're required to be positive."

in Slick Tools Increase Conversion (If They are used!) on Marketing Pilgrim
When I worked for SiteLab we worked with Hot Spring Spas to create a "make your own deck" for customers' backyards... it was a huge lead gen tool for the co.!
Here's the thing... right, customers may not be using it, but I would throw this out there - HD is not even advertising for it in Google ppc! when I searched for "grill finder" I got this ad:
Grill- Home Depot
A Gift for Every Dad at Home Depot.
Proud Sponsor of Father's Day.
www.HomeDepot.com
Ack... more examples of companies not leveraging search to its full potential. Hrmmmm...
