in Zorba the gesture on Torley Lives
Adding to the fun, this one with six "Greeks," in a most infamous spot: The Corn Field!

I do a lot of exploring, and tend to jes throw the piccies on Snapzilla. Maybe I should write more about my travels on the grid. I'm never sure anyone would even want to read it all.

in Debunking mindjunk about the cost of Second Life's visual quality on Torley Lives
While I *largely* agree, I believe a lot of the "only runs on high end machines" comes straight from comments Runati had on the dev list. I know you've managed it though, as have many others -- to stunning effects. However, my two month old iMac, as beautifully as it runs the current RC as well as the regular (windlight enabled) viewer, it can't use shadowdraft -- there is no mac support.
I, of course, expect that to change eventually -- or at least hope so!

in Second Life: Simple answers to curious remarks on Torley Lives
Good stuff! I especially liked the "Why don't you ever comment when I'm wearing my male, tiny furry, or giant wyrm-robot hybrid?" It's what I deal with as a kid avvie. No one (well, no one seems to) assumes I'm into "dino sex" when I'm in my triceratops avvie, so why do they assume I'm into kiddie sex when I'm in my usual avvie? Heck, why do they assume I'm a "real" kid based on my avvie -- I'm not a real dragon, mechanical rat, cockatrice, dryad, flying book, greenie, etc., etc., after all.

in Second Life “Winter” Festival - good old ethnocentrism on The Metaverse Journal
/me shrugs
SF, CA, USA based company, so they're likely going ot mirror what they see outside their door. Likewise, I'm sure the Winter festival started when SL was largely a US thing.
Frankly, though, I'm not gonna get worked up one way or another. Genocide in Darfur or this, you know?

@ Michi Lumin
Client > Debug Menu > RenderDynamicReflections = TRUE.
They are very, very fuzzy now, though. Not the mirror they once were. Kinda a shame.

Very cool - can't wait to mess with it (I'll wait'll after noon, though). Now if only Dynamic Reflections looked like the usedta (they look all blurry now) and Light Glows hadn't gone away. :-)

...I’ve not really seen pictures of cars in motion, or basketball players slam dunkin’, or even capturing the audience at a golf game.
I've tried to catch a couple soccer shots and other things during gym a HardKnock, an it's hard to do if yer participating.
Getting a good shot, too, is near impossible within an action environment, because you hafta fight lag as well as a slight shutter delay from the SL camera.
