Although I understand the argument for not adding new cycle paths, I would suggest that an assessment of the ones in existence would be worthwhile.

In addition to the contraflow on Hurst St, the contraflow near the High St (opposite Boots) is nonsensical and dangerous. Pedestrians fail to look and buses do not give enough room. Perhaps, in some circumstances where the pavements are wider, we could look at drawing new cycling lanes.

Re: 4.4.1

I understand this will not be a popular comment, but at the moment I feel it is far too easy and cheap to park a car in the city centre.

I notice that it is cheaper to pay for car parking in the City Council Moat House Lane car park (which is right by the BullRIng) than it is for a return bus fare. This isn't going to do much to encourage the use of public transport.

Re: 4.10.3

I really support this and believe it's essential if Birmingham is going to have any chance of becoming a digital city.

I would add that there would be a significant benefit to the offering of free wifi in the city centre. This would allow collaboration in exciting new ways and help assist Birmingham in its aims to lead the world in digital innovations.

Re: Question R1

We desperately need somewhere for smaller, independant retailers. Birmingham city centre depressingly could be any other High Street in any UK town.

I would love to see something like The Lanes in Brighton being developed in Birmingham. Not only could it be a fantastic place for develooping new businesses, it is also a tourist attraction.

Re: Question R3

There seems very few areas within Birmingham city centre that accommodate a large number of smaller shops. Most the the main areas are taken up by large shop fronts that swamp the presence of smaller retailers.

In the redevelopment of Priory Square shopping precinct, it would be fantastic to see an entire section dedicated to smaller retail stores that could be used by independant retailers.

Re: Teaching Twitter to Online Journalism Students

Hi Kaspar,

Great post!

One additional item I would add: once you have grasped Twitter, try to remember what a scary place it can be for people starting out.

I forgot that particular one and have learnt my lesson!

As for dealing with following many people, I think Tweetdeck (as you mentioned) and Tweet Grid (http://tweetgrid.com) are really useful tools. Both allow you to separate out the people you follow into groups (journalists, mates, local folk, etc).

Re: Why Birmingham needs a Creative Director - the problem they could solve

Thank you for writing this.

Re: List of UK Local Councils on Youtube

Hi! Great idea.

One you can add is Birmingham City Council, which is http://www.youtube.com/user/bccb11bb
