I really like ChicagoGoing.com -- very fresh!

I want to write a blurb about it for a gig I'm being tested for, but there's not much background info on the site.

When you have some time, could you shoot me an email answering the following:

-- When did this site hit Chicago?
-- Is there a 'popular' Chicago person involved, and if so who? (could be YOU!)
-- Was the site intro'd off-line with special
events at clubs, etc?
-- Could this be considered Chicago's only/first 'social networking' site?
-- Anything else cool the public would want to read about the site.

Now, this isn't guaranteed to publish -- unless I get the job (~ mid-July). I'd be happy to include any quotes the DanMan provides me and give you some shine as a writer with your finger on the pulse!

Wonder what you think of Ditka's latest rant. Oops: "cause." I tend to agree with his p-o-v, but also understand Duerson's frustration.

I'm a big fan of Isaiah's, but I totally agree with your p-o-v. I'll miss his superb presence on Grey's Anatomy, but more than that, I'm sickened by how easy it is for people to express hate.

Hate to say it, but I'm not feeling that logo for the Olympics, either. I mean, it would be cool for something else -- like livening-up a boring subway tunnel view. But for the Olympics? Not!

I don't know... I just think Chicagoans are a bit stuck in the past sometimes. I couldn't believe the way people here rejected such a popular brand.

It's as if people here want it both ways... Always the Second City screaming for 1st place attention, but not really progressive enough to embrace some of the big-time stuff. I can't say this one was MacDonald's fault, not the Chicago fiasco.

I've not spoken with any area resident of the predominently black Washington Park community who's excited about the prospect of the Olympics coming to Chicago. Everyone I've talked with around here believes the city -- and the powerful U. of Chicago -- already are plotting to snatch their land/homes/apartments, with inadequate financial or other meaningful support for uprooting them.

The possibility of some of the main Olympics venues being built around here, once families are booted out, already is contentious. If Chicago actually wins the global bid, you can bet race issues will become so heated that people will think there's another "great fire" raging here. lol

Sounds like the premise of this goes back to a profound marketing neo-truism: EVERYthing is media. As a result, media's now all about "real estate, real estate, real estate" -- whether for a fast-food, anti-tobacco or political brand.

BTW... I'd really like to see the video, but can't. No feed. :-)

If possible, please provide the URL so those of us still surfing 20th century-style can check it out. Sounds great!
