in Apple Investors We’re two-Thirds of the Way There on Investor in the Wilderness
Impossible to read market but I agree with your analysis. The only thing causing me hesitation on a play today is Bush talking at 8:40 this morning. Who knows what he will say, what we do know is his comments are recently good for at least a 200 point drop. Just an opinion, we will see.

in Apple Fails to Deliver, Rally Fizzles on Investor in the Wilderness
I agree with you that we pump these events up in our own minds. If they gave us everything thing our minds could dream of at one time, there would be nothing to look forward, so I am pleased and looking forward to seeing the products.

When you think about what Apple has accomplished this year with international marketing, iphone, itouch, new lap tops, I think it is rather amazing. I really believe this has been a year of positioning for Apple and i look forward to next year. I really can't think of another company who brings as much excitement to my world as does Apple,

The amount of business they generate per square foot in their retail stores is amazing so I cannot complain about what I consider one of the best companies in the world.

One of the things I find most fascinating about Apple is they can keep a secret better than our own government.

Guess I got a little off target but I am pleased with their new offerings.

in Apple Investors Forget the Bailout, Just Bail Now on Investor in the Wilderness
Zach,

Not everyone on your site is a trader. I own several shares of Apple as a long term investor, so to bailout would be very expensive. On the other hand if you feel the bottom is truly going to fall out perhaps this is the way to go. I need clarification on how you would play this in my position. My guess is most of the jobs we have known in the U.S. will never come back, I really do not see how we can compete in many industries. However, there will be new jobs in new industries but global competition will go after these jobs as well. You advice for a long term investor

Zach Bass Buy and hold is simply an outdated strategy. As a long term investor you can't expect the stock to continually rise, nothing does. If you truly believe this stock will rebound, then you'd be buying this latest decline, by dollar cost averaging in. By the same token you should have been taking profits when it was ascending and at its peak.

So if I was a positional or trend trader I would be a buyer here and a buyer at 80 and a buyer at 70, 60 and so on. The thing you have to believe in, is that you'll get a reasonable return from this stock in your investment horizon. Apple doesn't pay dividends, so holding for the long term is a very big gambit, when your dollars could be working for you elsewhere.

in Is Apple a Buy Here Poll on Investor in the Wilderness
Who really cares, I am a long term investor and will buy at $100, $80, and $60 looking for a three year payoff. To me this is an unbelievable buy opportunity.

in Apple Investors Take Heed in the Fate of RIM on Investor in the Wilderness
As I recall Apple gave fairly aggressive guidance in the 4th Qtr. of last year. I think this is possible again since their market is much larger with the new 3G phone. In addition I believe more new products (Mac's) and who knows what else will emerge for the Christmas market. You have new stores, Best Buy, and Amazon all supporting the Christmas effort.

Bottom line I think you will see apple pull out all the stops going into the 4th Qtr. They really will not have another opportunity in this market until the end of 2009 so my opinion is they will go for it. I can't of another stock I would rather be in at this time.

Zach Bass I think Apple has a great opportunity to gain market share here, especially over RIMM and desktop PC makers. But I don't think the market or investors care how that reflects on AAPL the stock. Strange times. One might argue that the company fundamentals will tend to prop up share price, but it will still likely go down.

in Apple Investors Born in the USA Living Under Socialism on Investor in the Wilderness
The Democratic incentive to work with the SEC and Treasury is because they have money involved in this mess just as you and I.

From a political point of view they do not want appear part of the problem should the situation deteriorate based on their inaction, thus losing the election.

Zach Bass That may be true, but the fact is that Elliot Wave theory is practiced by virtually all traders, especially Forex traders. And if you haven't noticed, just about every trading platform includes Fibonacci tools. In addition to this, Fibonacci was not based on 1939 socio-economic dynamics, it is based on universal constants that occur in ALL parts of nature and behavior..

in Apple Investors Embrace the Pain, Feel the Gain on Investor in the Wilderness
Corruption and the uncontrolled shorting of stocks are the main issues with the mess we are in. I don't see how Obama has anything to do with this. On the other hand, I do think McBush is right in the center of it.

Wall Street needs cleansing, the question is who has the integerity and nut_ to do it.

in Apple Investors Embrace the Pain, Feel the Gain on Investor in the Wilderness
It is impossible to predict the bottom because no one knows what will happen next. Yesterday I started buying in 100 share increments on the way down. I believe the financials now have the opportunity to put their cards on the table and hopefully and clean their own house. The next challenge is the repercussions in terms of the economy as a whole. Again you cannot find two people who agrees on what these repercussions will be or how serious.

I am pleased with the talk of regulation on Wall Street as I believe the corruption is out of control. In addition I hope to see some people in jail when the smoke clears.

in Apple Investors, Extremely Low Volume, But That’s a Good Thing on Investor in the Wilderness
Stock will trade sideways until near October when it will move up due to positive financials from Apple, new products, upgrades, more countries increasing iphone sales, and Christmas. I believe the new products will be in the form of a new computer line up which will be received positively. The stage for the iphone has been set this year but will continued be be improved as will the itouch. Just an opinion.

Apple gets hit hard by the press when they do things right. When they get something wrong it is unbelievable. It is mind blowing how a stock which is arguably the most innovative company in the world can get trashed so badly. I think it really makes a statement of what this country is becoming.

in Apple Investors Stuck in Channel, Moving Sideways on Investor in the Wilderness
As a long term investor and given the ever changing news, i would expect Apple to be trading side ways. What will be disappointing is if the market does not allow the stock to pick up forward momentum as the year progresses.

I believe the company has done an excellent job this year with new products and updates to come by year end to promote business and post excellent sales/earnings. Apple is one of, if not the most creative companies in the World, I do not believe this is questionable.

Apple has no control over job losses which is the biggest problem we face in this country or the mismanagement of the Financial Institutions. If you do not have a job, it is pretty hard to pay a mortgage. In my opinion some of the people responsible for these situations should be going to jail and this should be the big news. Clean up the incompetent dirty lot who created this mess and replace them with real talent and you will see Apple stock begin to go up fast.

Not going to talk about the energy situation (oil) which should have been corrected beginning in the 1970's.

in Are iPhone 3G Defect Rates Way Above Apple’s Standards? on Investor in the Wilderness
It seems the problem occurs only after the iphone is taken from it's case. This should narrow the search.

This is a simple fix whatever it is, in fact it probably has already been fixed in the factory. However, you have inventory which must be sorted through.

I would also be frustrated but based on what Apple has been able to do with this new phone, I certainly would no give up on the company
