in Cool It! on Terry Ann Rendon
Get back to me when Glenn Beck tells Obama to "Shut the HAEEELLLL UP!!!!", Obama gets accused of lying when he says the exact same thing Republicans said when they were in power, there's signs at tea parties of Obama being decapitated, and a vocal minority think he flew airplanes into buildings. (Yes, I know, Ron Paul guys are Truthers too.)
Then we can start equating the right with the left.
Then again, I'm sure if we just play nice and don't oppose Obama, and court all of them happy moderates by having a diluted message, we'll be assured a landslide.
Worked so well for us in '08, didn't it?
I'm not sure what it is you want.
Beck is who he is, and unlike Olbermann, actually tries to keep some measure of respect when he speaks his mind.
Is it just that he opposes Obama that bothers you, or do you think he opposes Obama for dumb or unsupported reasons?
I mean, do we really want "cool it" as the new big plan for conservatives?
Might as well join the feckless Republican Party. They know how to play nice, and stand up for absolutely nothing, like champs.

in I Still Dig Starbuck on The Michigan Partisan
Off topic: I added your blog to my blog's blog list. :-)
On topic: My best friend wanted to give the new BG a chance, and the sex change of Starbuck instantly did that in.
I enjoyed my cousin Ron Moore's work on Deep Space Nine, but the not so subtle (as I've been told) allusions to the Iraq war/Bush bashing and moral equivalence with the bad guys make me leery of ever buying season DVDs of this one.
If the criticism of the show is off base, I'd welcome hearing so from someone who has seen it.

in Hillary Still Trying to Pay Off Campaign Debt on Terry Ann Rendon
I've got but one word for Hillary.
Sellout.
And, to think, I wasn't even a supporter.
Any self-respecting Hillaryite has no excuse for endorsing this cave in.
(Of course, many of them who railed against "Iron My Shirt" and such when Hillary was the victim saw no irony in finding the C-word Palin t-shirts amusing.)
Obama, who pails to her in qualifications, undermined her best shot at the dream of her entire life....and she becomes one of his lackeys.
I do so hope she parlays this into another challenge against him, and isn't just falling on her sword for the next best thing.
Don't like her, but I like her far better than him.
(Although, give her and Bill credit.
They've got no less than one-third of their people in Obama's administration.)

He promised them change didn't he?
He's delivering.
He's changing just about every policy proposal he had as a candidate,

"Does it not matter how men
(half of the population, I might add) were doing?"
Expecting history books written by leftist radical demagogues to ever drop the "everyone but a white man is oppressed" schtick is like expecting Men's Centers to sprout up on college campuses. (How come it's never sexist to assume that women are the only one's who "need" centers for their issues? Isn't that implying that males are superior to them? These are the lovely questions that the left never has a good answer for.)
Yet another reason why I will be the one explaining history to my children.
Not a public school.

Never mind the facts.
Kathleen Parker just HAS to point the finger at us evil boogeymen.
And she just won't be deterred by the truth, by golly.

It's great to see Glenn Beck come on over to Fox News.
In a coming world where the libs are going to try and silence talk radio, having him on television gives me a ray of hope.

As far BSG goes, it all depends. Most of the critizism stems from how you see things. In Season 3 the humans move a planet which is invaded and ruled by the Cylons. Many people such as Jonah Goldberg from NR and others wrote this story arc off as a take on us in Iraq (we are the cylons). I didn't see it the first time I viewed those episodes, but on DVD I could say it seems that way. However, in many ways for me it's just a matter of stealing the story. What I mean is the writers took details of Iraq, but also of other WWII occupations and made a hybrid. Like I said people can read what they want into it and because the humans deploy suicidal bombers, least I wouldn't, call that a hiden means of explaining muslim terrorists as justified, though yes you could make that case. Perhaps it was written that way, but when the suicidal bomber was used he was taking out the Cylon leaders (and humans died), he wasn't targeting a bus of kids. I'm not sure if that makes a difference to detracters but it did for me.
Then with the moral ambivalence. I am dissapointed to see the Cylons actually getting a pass last season. The story line is a bit complicated (some Cylons want to make peace with humans some want to finish them off, that leads to a civil war where some Cylons join with the humans). I think it's impossible to say that the show is "anti-human" or justifing what the Cylons did.
Sorry I wrote so much but I do believe it's a great show. I'm in the military and this is perhaps one of the greatest military shows, things like honor, duty, and loyalty are displayed every episode. It has a strong political element, this ranges all over the chart but it would be impossible to tell a human story without politics involved. And the positive far out weighs the bad.
Thanks again and I'd recomend renting Season 1, it's the best season as a whole. The others are great but that's the season that hooked me.
Thanks!
