I thought Nokia World was being held in Barcelona, not Brisbane! (The pic's upside-down!)

It wasn't a dig aimed solely at the iPhone, I'm talking with bitter experience with a bunch of handsets on a bunch of networks that I've had reception issues with heading to and from London on SouthWestTrains.

in The INQ1 is available for pre-order now. £79.99 PAYG. on Mobile Industry Review
I can imagine there's going to be similar supply issues as they had just over a year ago with the launch of the first Skypephone. That was a big opps, I thought they'd have been better prepared this time.
As for the price, it includes £10 credit (which you're gonna need anyway) and going through Quidco nets you £11 off!

in MIR Show - Week 45 - Flirtomatic’s astonishing survey results on Mobile Industry Review
I was hoping to speak to Mark at Swedish Beers, but once I got a seat I wasn't going anywhere! Funny thing was I was sitting by him at Mobile Monday but I digress.
I'm still using the service and still think it's great, but...
I keep seeing other people's conversations! And I'm not alone, all the fine young ladies I chat to keep telling me the same. It's kinda like you're half-logged in as someone else. I've reported it and added screengrabs but didn't receive a response and the issue hasn't gone away.
The other issue I have (and isn't really a fault of Flirto but should be something they're aware of) is that there's an awful lot of what appear to be scammers using the site. I think it was last Sunday when I had half a dozen 'girls' messaging me asking for my number or email or telling me to check out their webcam site with VIP pass. The numbers/emails thing might not seem suspect, but these were 'girls' that had issues with English, didn't have much of a profile and usually didn't have a picture.
Oh, and sometimes what they typed as an opener was generic (a quick Google found they sent the same message elsewhere and one search came up with a site wanting to install an .exe file!)
As some of you know, I enjoy playing about with scamsters and know most of their tricks, so it's kinda fun when they want to play. However, not everyone knows when they're being had - so maybe there should be the odd reminder message to users for what to look out for?

in INQ1Watch: Reasons behind the phone – 1,2,3 on Mobile Industry Review
I think the one most important thing 3 have been good at is being open and transparent about pricing on their own portal. I've used the other networks and have been reluctant to plod through their offerings as it's not always been clear what one gets charged for.

I've had the same message a few times when I've gone to take photos. Usually, for me, he keeps on working. If not, 'the battery remove' trick does the, er, trick.

in INQ interview tomorrow - have you got any questions for them? on Mobile Industry Review
The browsing experience is very similar to that of Opera Mini as it does the same trick of compressing pages at their end. No waiting ages, no badly formatted pages nor completely full pages that freeze your phone when it runs out of memory.
Although one of INQ's guys said he'd use both (Opera Mini was already installed on th handset he showed me).

in Meeting with the INQ chaps on Mobile Industry Review
It should be, that's the whole idea behind creating INQ Mobile as a seperate entity. They really want to be in America and presumably any market that doesn't have a 3 presence.
Not sure what they'd do if Voda, o2, Orange and T-Mob in the UK were to ask nicely for the handset. Damn that's a question I should've asked yesterday!

Ant,
Unfortunately it (and I) can't be there now - some of the other guys are covering this. However, give me a shout if you're in/around London over the next few days and you're welcome to take a look.

in Youth: Text in Knife Crime Concerns on Mobile Industry Review
The fact that mBlox are involved in this doesn't fill me with confidence. But if I were to step back and focus on the idea, I er, still have my doubts...
Texting anonymously is all well and good, but what if the person doing the reporting forgets to delete the message from their 'sent' folder? It's been a while since I were a teenager but I do know one thing, kids pass their phones around all the time and you can't always trust so-called 'friends'. Or at some point they may have their phone stolen from them (possibly by the same group likely to be wandering around with knives).
I guess as long as the person is made aware of this, then this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Weren't 3 meant to have done this a year or so ago? I'm sure that's what I read back then about them and Rhythm New Media teaming up.
I did notice over the last week that I couldn't find any of the usual free videos from 3. No sign of the news updates from ITN or Reuters and weather forecasts were text/images only.

in Enkin — the heads-up-display for your mobile on Mobile Industry Review
Real reality sucks, long live augmented reality! Nokia have been messing about with this kinda thing too but there hasn't been any public updates on the project for quite a while.
Personally, I can't wait for this. Paired with a head's up display I'll never get lost again (well, until I'm mugged of the video glasses and phone!)

Maybe it was the champers, but I was sure there were more than five people there last night! :-)
Popped into my local 3Store today and saw it on PAYG for £130. Best thing I've ever received in a goodie bag and the most valuable. Had we not gotten them I'm not sure what we'd be blogging about!

And yes we know about the scammers too. They come from "overseas" if that's not too old-fashioned a term....We try to move fast to close them down. Interestingly if we were not on web as well as mobile we might not get the issue, sigh. Good idea to remind the community that they can report them.
