Yeah, the hubby and I saw Eddie Griffin last year in Miami and his routine is absolutely horrible. He can't go 2 minutes without using the N word and there's just nothing funny about that.

Well, let's not forget that "black" and "nigga" are not interchangeable words. Therefore, the point of the line is that any person who listens to solely hip-hop or rap music has "nigga ears," a.k.a. ears for only that type of music. It's all about expanding your taste in music and has nothing to do with what race the listener is.

I don't mind that he took in that amount. What matters to me is what he does with that money. Was that $69M before or after he put in his own 10% tithes? I don't need my Pastor to drive a Civic but I also have a preference that they live a humble and modest lifestyle, which is opposite to the flamboyant flashy lifestyle that I see many wealthy Pastors living. If the leader of your church is supposed to be a reflection of how Jesus lived, what Jesus would do, and an interpretation of the sacred words of the bible, I just cannot see how that person is so extremely wealthy unless he is also giving that money to charities or back to the church. I look for a preacher who walks the walk as well as encouraging the congregation. And to me, walking the walk includes devoting time to missionary work and not just acquiring private monies.

Black pride does not equal racism. And we didn't "decide" that we weren't human (we obviously are), we were told that we weren't human during slavery when our ancestors were treated worse than dogs. One of the reasons we chose to empower ourselves with social and professional networks is to combat the vestiges of slavery and the racism that persists even today. There's no exclusion here. In fact, if you actually read past the word "black," you might have learned a thing or two.

FYI this was taken at the 48th Quadrennial Session of the AME Church in St. Louis, MO on July 5, 2008. Rev. Dr. Vashti Murphy McKenzie (with the redish hair on the left) is the first woman to be bishop in the AME church. She spoke at my college baccalaureate! (Spelman '03)

I think Perry's best movie thus far is Why Did I Get Married. This movie was OK- but I do not have high expectations when going to the movies. What bothered me wasn't even the movie but the crowd I was amongst. What is the problem with OUR people? Why can't "we" act right when we go to the movies??? And (***spoiler alert***) WHY OH WHY did the crowd cheer for all joy when the man back slapped the woman?! I don't care how verbally abusive she was, we should not be applauding DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!

With snow on the ground, I can't break out the stroller and take a walk with my baby. But I do love Exercise TV (Comcast On Demand) and I've said this in other comments, but I love the Biggest Loser workouts. If you don't have comcast, the dvds are very inexpensive. Thanks for the post Jessica!

Girl after I read this last night I put it on my to-do list for today. (I am a product junkie too!). But why was I in the aisle for like 20 minutes trying to figure out which one to get- this one, the one for colored hair, or the one for frizzy hair? lol.
