in I’ll Be Back on Craig Burton
Craig - I'm laughing out loud in Waterloo station, London (England) as I read this. With a tear in my eye. It was great to meet you too!

in Revisiting the Laws of Identity (Clayton Donley's Blog) on Clayton Donley's Blog
Clayton, your point one is a counsel of despair.
reality is that the Web 2.0 world is often driven by "free" content and services that will drive more, not less, of this collection and sharing
You dont distinguish between information that is rightly set free (eg govt data, maps, our shared culture) and our sensitive personal information which we need consciously to protect better precisely because of Web 2.0.

To achieve that we need legal, technical and cultural help.

You speak of the reality of how we use computers. But reality isnt sacred. Much of the reality of how people use computers today needs to change. It's not just that it's unacceptably intrusive; it's also too expensive and doesnt work especially well, either for commerce or for public services.

I get the sense from Kim's blog that this penny has dropped at least in some parts of Microsoft. Perhaps the lesson of your post is that this penny has not dropped, in some parts at least of Oracle.

This just adds one more to the ample reasons for travelling instead to the many other countries in the world. (Just back from Morocco. Just off to Germany. Then Peru. Anywhere but US&A)
