in @PerezHilton vs. Will.I.Am = Indulgence in Emotional Immaturity on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
This is why I don't follow paparazzi and the like (though I am sad about Jon & Kate!). Perez is an immature spoiled brat. And Will.I.Am probably is too. Infact I'm sure of it based on the fact that he makes people call him Will.I.Am. I let them live their silly lives while some of us try to make a difference...

in California Courts Continue to Be a Catalyst of Social Division on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
The CA legislature TWICE tried to pass a bill authorizing same sex marriages however our Governor vetoed it TWICE saying he wanted to wait and see how the courts ruled. Further, I don't believe that civil rights should ever be left to the hands of the electorate. For the will always choose to remain in power. Courts have regularly advanced the cause of the oppressed.

RYC, "former friend" was probably not the best choice of words. I meant former in the sense that we don't really talk anymore. Not that if our paths crossed that i would just ignore you or something. I'm not like that. While I certinly disagree with your support of the FL prop and don't think it was very Jesus-like, I still spend alot of time defending ya'll. To be honest I don't know how long thats gonna last but as of now, I still do it...

As for bailing out, I didn't go anywhere. Ya'll didn't give effort to stay in touch. Neither did I. That sounds pretty mutual to me. That doesn't mean we're not acquaintences. I would come up and say hi anytime I saw you or the others.

Randy I seriously forgot about the legislative actions in California.

Marriage isn't a civil right. It is a socially and legally defined benefit. Start talking about marriage as a legal benefit and you have my attention. As long as you frame it wrongly as a civil right you diffuse what true civil rights are and infuse a level of vitriol that isn't necessary.

Neither I nor you have to be married to be treated equal and live in freedom.

Randy Well, I am glad for that :)

Pomo, as you know, a lot of (if not most) friendships in life aren't really very deep and/or simply come and go. I enjoyed talking with you but you seemed to have a better friendship with others and I was glad for that. I knew of some of your struggles or concerns but you took them to others and I was glad you could go to them. So, when you weren't around there wasn't a compelling "need" within me to catch up or chase you down.

However, if you had an expectation that I should have pursued our friendship more and I blew that expectation ... for whatever part of that I need to take responsibility for ... I certainly apologize.

Regardless of where you are in your journey or beliefs, I would still hope to call you friend. And that is the truth.

in Florida International University Replaces Proper Debate with Hateful Infotainment on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
Yes, having WBC makes this debate useless in terms of anything useful coming from it.

However, I would say that same is true over here in CA with the anti-gay marriage side using half-truths and scare tactics in their adds. "If you are insecure and feel that you might not win a debate with compelling points and a good presentation … one way to go is the circus route"

It disapoints me when both sides can't just trust that their arguments are strong enough without having to resort to lies or deception. And I expect a higher standard from people who claim to represent Christ but thats not happening here in CA. Christians/Mormons are reciting the same talking points the campaign is handing down and they're all false.

Its no different with our presidential candidates either. During the debates they don't answer a question, they attack each other. So neither of them has my vote

Randy I know for a fact that those talking points are not false and the people putting together the ads and church events don't just mindlessly recite what they hear.

Talk about a cynical generalization.

And if you are honestly equating what the Christians in California are doing with Phelps ... I don't even know what to say.

I really wonder what goes through peoples minds when they think up these things? Do they really think that Chrsitians would do such a thing? Or do they think its acceptable to portray a group such a way? Its not like this is characteristic of Christians in general. But do they think that it is? They know they couldn't get away with it if they were muslims terrorists. Why did it even have to be a scenario? Why couldn't it just be an angry person who wanted to kill others? I dont know about suing them. But i'm all about the school board members losing their jobs for making such a stupid decision.

Now if "Christians" ever did such a thing (God forbid) then it should be universally condemned by Christians everywhere.

Hmm. I'm gonna have to disagree with the spirit with which TB wrote this article. It seems from the tone that shes sounding like a liberal herself. "Jesus isn't mad at us, He loves us. We can do whatever we want!" And then to pull a lame-o comment like "ho actually would vote for a guy to be president who has such a low opinion of the country he is campaigning to lead"

I mean really... sounds like she would rather have someone lie to us then tell us the truth. This country IS jacked up. And as "religious" as it may or may not be, I think Jesus is disapointed in this country on so many levels. We are a bunch of greedy, selfish, arrogant people! (myself included!) Atleast this country as a whole is.

I didnt catch Edwards speech. I try to avoid all things democrat because I usually just end up sick. So I cant comment on what he said. And I dont know TB. But this article seriously seems like liberal logic (which is an oxymoron)!
