I don't think electability is a big issue. I think Obama creams Giuliani, creams Huckabee, and beats Romney too, but by a lesser amount. The only one who might make it a race is McCain; McCain's the only Republican who's not completely insane.

Consider that Obama is attracting support from some moderate Republicans as well. Everybody likes to talk about the issues but when it comes down to it people respond to LEADERSHIP and a message of hope. Any candidate in either party who runs looking backwards at the past is going to get beat; you MUST speak convincingly of a better future to get elected.

Bill Clinton in December: "you couldn’t stop me from spending all the money I’ve saved over the last five years on Hillary's campaign if I wanted to, even though it would clearly violate the spirit of campaign finance reform".

Seeing Obama sworn in as President would make me so proud to be an American in so many ways, ways that I'm SUPPOSED to be proud already but am not -- certainly not after the past seven years. Finally the rhetoric becomes true. People all over the world are going to FREAK OUT, in a good way!

Ted Haggard, the Gift that Keeps on Giving This story just gets better. Not only is it illegal to pass charitable donations through to a specified client like that, but the charity isn't even legally registered in Colorado anymore. And -- get this: the guy who runs it, Paul Huberty, is a CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER, in Hawaii, and he's supposed to have registered in CO when he moved, but must have forgot or something.

It would be nice if the state would get out of the liquor sales business altogether and let private businesses handle it, like they do every other commodity, and like they do in most of the civilized states. Wallingford could easily support a quality liquor store, with more interesting brands than the ones the bureaucrats get kickbacks for.
