in Why I Think Google Chrome Will Be Highly Successful on dmiessler.com | grep understandingI agree with you on some parts. I also think you are missing the failures. Lets take a look. Do you remember Orkut? While I like the browser, I am not sure it is fully baked. No themes and plugin support. These are major issues.

in Dear Google, Why Can’t Chrome Tell Me if a Site Has an RSS Feed? on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingI am really worried that they are not fixing the issues with this browser. If you think about it safari for windows is the almost the same with out some of the short comings.

in Chrome as My Primary Browser on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingI have used Chrome a lot but i am not a big fan. Firefox always wins. I do have to say that I am using it right now. That being said, I am also writing from a tablet PC I am testing for work.

in Yearning For a Healthy Society on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding@NateDog I agree with you there. I am so busy trying to advance my career that I barely know my neighbors. It is not that I do not trust them, but I just do not know them. I assume that to live around me they must be.

in Yearning For a Healthy Society on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingBoth people are onto something here. You can move to a gated community and do not have any of the worries or issues. That is just a short term fix. You can try and change the world. That would be a long term fix.
Here is the truth as I see it. People are not really getting worse. Just the ability to commit crimes is getting easier. People did not walk into a bar and spray the place with a sub machine gun 100 years ago because people could not get a sub machine gun.
Also once a shooting did happen you did not have national 24 hour news agencies covering the issue because no one had TV. News papers did not have a rating system so they had no reason to only cover bad news.
I agree that things are bad. I only think they are bad as in proportion to society. So lets say that 1 out of a 100 people are sociopaths(btw I just made that number up). When you only have a million people then the number of sociopaths are low. Once you have 100 million they become more a part of society. Plus you now have media that makes it glamorous to be a sociopath.

in Obama Fields a Question About Small Business Taxes on dmiessler.com | grep understandingI had not seen this video before, but I do have this to say. Obama is a great leader! That show why he deserves to be president. He actually acknowledged that he was lucky and his wealth did not all come from hard work. I was going to write in Ron Paul, but now I think that would be doing Paul and Obama a disservice.

in Obama and “Socialism” on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingI agree with what you are saying save for one item. One of the reasons McCain is calling Obama is socialist is socialized medicine. I do not agree that is what Obama is doing, but a lot of people see it as a step in that direction.

in Home Network Upgrades on dmiessler.com | grep understandingSeem you are back in to the geeky stuff full force. I am about ready to do the same thing. Once I pay the deductible for my bike and buy Christmas presents I am getting my lab up and running.

in The Constitution Party is Scary: Why Did Ron Paul Support Them? on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingDaniel - I just did a search and can only find where he supported Chuck Baldwin. Can you point me to the link of his official support of the party? When we talked about this yesterday I took it for granted that the people who approached you where right. But maybe they took the Baldwin endorsement as an endorsement of the party.

Agreed, they've had some failures as well. I would say, however, that Orkut is a different beast than Chrome because it's pretty hard to get "into" a social network for a user. You have to invite all your friends and hope they stay, etc. It's difficult.
With a browser, however, you can pretty much dabble and dip as desired without relying others to do the same.
I agree that Google can fail, I'm just saying I think the browser space is one are I think they can and will thrive. And I'm definitely not arguing that they're a contender now; they're way too early for that (they must have plugins to even compete).
This is a prediction for like 6-12 months from now.
