Some random thoughts...

The God of the Christians gives us free will and then punishes us for using it.

The God of the Christians loves us and knows even the number of hairs on our heads yet is oddly absent when people cry out to him in despair. Believers will then say that faith is a "mystery" and that we can't always understand God's ways.

The God of the Christians will allow a hurricane to level a town, and the three survivors that crawl out of the rubble will praise Jesus for the "miracle".

Christians that go on and on about Satan ignore the fact that in the Old testament, Satan worked for God. And Jehova Himself says that he is the author of good and evil.

Christians will focus on certain Biblical passages and ignore others. Leviticus clearly states that a man shouldn't cut his beard. Christian men shave. Yet homosexuality - which Jesus said nothing about - gets a higher importance rating. Cafeteria Christians.

Christianity destroyed immense beauty and knowledge that was our collective cultural inheritance from the ancient world. It appropriated virgin births, miracles, and sacred days. Appellations like "son of God" and "good shepherd" were given to other Gods before their religion appeared.

Bible oriented Christians forget that the first Christians didn't have Bibles. The Bible didn't exist until the institutional church gathered various books together and created it. If the "word" is the chief and only authority for Christians, then their church was without authority for a couple of centuries at least.

I don't hate Christianity per se. I do hate bigoted, non-thinking Christians who are obsessed with hell and damnation, who want to force everyone else in the country to tow their line, who believe that America should be Jesus Land, who foster hatred towards others, and who are obsessed with who loves who and with who believes what.

Ugh, I *HATE* those stupid contextual link ads. In my opinion it is just noise. Once I realize that a page is using them, the SNR has gone out the window and I can't even be bothered to look at any of the links on the page. All it is to me at that point is annoying differently-colored words.

Hypertext is about the author providing a link to something useful and relevant. Whoring hyperlinks destroys that relationship between author and reader and just becomes line noise.

Tja "problemet" är väl att folk använder personliga skyltar för budskap och marknadsföring. Men det är ju från bara en identitetsmärkning ungefär som ett användbar namn i en dator.

Enklast vore ju om de skippa hela konceptet med personliga skyltar. Det finns ju andra sätt att märka ut sin bil.

Zondag 16 juli in het reguliere NOS Journaal van 20 uur: Rusland maakt zelf bekend tijdens de G8-top, dat het zijn gas-leveranties aan de EU en China, rond 2011 en later de gas-contracten niet langer zal kunnen nakomen ... !
Duidelijker taal kan niet: Peak-Gas in Rusland ... ! Olie ook ? Werd niet genoemd.

In de tekst boven staat in de 5e alinea, dat in mei 2005 de hoogste productie ooit van 85 miljoen vaten/dag is gehaald en nog niet is overtroffen.
Is het nog te vroeg om wellicht te veronderstellen, dat die maand mei 2005 wel eens de wereld-peak-oil kan zijn geweest ... ?

I often experience that lazy or uncommitted managers favor and rely on ratings.

I think that E2.0 ratings can indeed visualize the productivity of a knowledge worker, but ratings shoud really only be the affirmation of what you already have experienced. In my view it is best to review the actual (E2.0) 'products' of a knowledge worker, to ask him or her what he or she is proud of and finally, in asking a few peers for review. Ratings can then affirm your conclusion.

What does spiritual unity actually mean to you? Already Baha'u'llah and Abdu'l-Baha guided us in which spirit and trust we should give to the fund. What you are suggesting is more like a punishment which indirectly shows that you think you have a better answer... people like you easily would start a new -ism if it was possible. Don't you see what you are doing? Fill your heart with love and trust that Baha'u'llah is guiding His Faith on its long and winding road... towards victory and refinement... we serve with our shortcomings with the knowledge that God is the Ruler and the One who knows what pathway to go.

it is a "punishment" because you show your dislike with the ways the funds are used by not letting the institutions decide how they are supposed to be used ... if they use them the way you like, i am sure you think it is alright... but then someone else think that is wrong...
To me unity in diversity is a result of spiritual unity. To me spiritual unity is to work hard on fulfilling the laws and obligations or the writings and to support the institutions elected by all believers... giving suggestions to them but if they are not accepted, accept that, and support their decisions... with all my heart... and that guidance is from Baha'u'llah...
technically your idea to force the local communities to save the donations for 10 years is counterproductive. Most communities wouldn't get so much that the interest of it would be enough to create any development. And the inflation would eat much of the value so that after 10 years it would be worth much less. It wouldn't work in many countrys anyway because here in europe we doesnt have that kind of law.
I think that those who are upset with the ruhiprocess and the administration today dont realize that the administration is also a part of the progress of the Faith. To me it seems like they expect that it all has to perfect right away.

For your knowledge; i have been a baha'i (or rather tried to become) for 32 years and is not a member of any institution in the Faith so i am kind of looking at the admin as a supporter not a "defender" against the criticism that seems to flourish. Specially among those who consider them selves as "scholars".

It would be interesting to hear your view on the decision-process in the faith and how to relate to decisions that individuals disapproves with.
How do we wholeheartedly support decisions we dont like?

The economical issue is for most communities in the world, really beyond their capassity ... to invest peoples gifts to the fund would in most cases be a gambling at highest risk since investing is a profession and something most administrators have no knowledge of... which means the funds would shrink even more.

I feel sorry for poor Sigmund... no comments...

...but God is still in charge...

...yes He gave us a free will ... and the faith cant be likened to a car with cruisecontrol... i am talking about the greater plan... (God is still the Driver) we must do our best and that is also true for us who are less intelligent and accept that the administration is a learning process and have trust in their guidance specilly by the UHJ since Baha'u'llah told us so.

To me it sounds like Sigmund has to wait a long time for unity and specially world unity until enough people reaches his level of knowledge to be able to even start it... we have to accept that it is God who chooses whoever He wants to become a bahai because Baha'u'llah says that it works that way... and with the sum of that group of idiots (as he calls them) we have to establish love and unity... so we really has to be optimistic and loving beyond mortality... Baha'u'llah gives us a shortcut though... Love all people through God ... even the "Baha'i-idiots"... if you cant... have a talk with God.

I guess the angle from where i am looking at things are different and i only live in a country where all people in all institutions are fulltime workers and serve the Faith in their free time, so my expectations are not higher than what i have on my self. It is also not the institutions that shall teach the Faith ... it is all of us and still it is slow. I believe that it depends on that most of us (including myself ... working on it) are so involved in the old world order that it is hard to mirror forth the truth of the faith. But i believe that will gradually change.
My experience is that when loving and frank consultation is practised it most of the time is focused on frank...(attacking,rude) this mostly paralyze unexperienced people... and many people in the institutions are unexperienced even though they are well educated.
I have a question ... somewhere in the back of my mind i have a memory of reading that the institutions are not responsible before us but before God and Baha'u'llah. Have any of you read this? well i dont have a blind faith because i know what i believe and know that it is a creative process within me guided by search and openmindedness and daily studyings... but i must admit that i dont question the institutions but believe that gradually they will grow and flourish. From here i dont see that the UHJ ITC and others are what you see....
I definatly believe that the development process has slowed down but that depends on all of us..
Maybe we all have to make mistakes to learn forgiveness and unconditional love...
From my point of view life is still great the faith is still a thrill and the grass is still greener on the other side so i shall work hard on getting me and help us all getting there.
And i still know many beautiful and loving baha'is.

@ previous commenters: Clear cutting is never good. Even if it is not a real forest but just a tree plantation. It causes erosion and destroys habitat. It is not that trees are cut, it is how they are cut.

In some European countries landfills are not used anymore. Everything is either recycled, or used as fuel for power plants. The emissions of the latter are strictly controlled.

Actually in Europe there are also many remote areas, where police help is hours away and there is even no cell phone reception. I like to hike in this kind of areas. Nevertheless I don't feel the need to carry a weapon, and I do not feel unsafe. I also do not know any other outdoor sports people that feel the need to carry a gun to defend themselves against other people.

OK, we do not have many dangerous animals left, but at least half of the people reacting here carry a gun because they are afraid of other people. Why are you so afraid of each other?

If there are so many guns around there are significant chances that accidents will happen: guns go off by accident, a child will get to an unattended gun, someone will get drunk, someone will be unstable because of a broken relationship, and so on. These possibilities would scare me more than bears or weed growers.

During the cold war west berlin had only limited access to drinking water. The cleaned sewage water was therefor used as drinking water. It worked.

I am a bit surprised that there would be so much silicon in rice husks. You would expect that these mostly consist of carbohydrates. However if rice husks are indeed a good source of pure silicon, it would be interesting to know if this could be a cheap source for the photovoltaics industry.

This is why a lot of people think architects are arrogant.

Somehow many architects think they are artists, rather than a service provider. If a client changes the plan, it is because the original version did not suit his needs and obviously the architect has not done is job correctly.

Rather than filtering out critical clients, architects should make more effort in satisfying the customer.

The colours on the 747 are in fact those of the Boeing Company. The aircraft seen in this clip is the very first 747, "RA001", today displayed at the Seattle Museum of Flight. Thanks for a great blog, my favourite!

Tapi, setujuh, KlikSaya dan KumpulBlogger adalah proyek yang perlu dukungan untuk perkembangannya dari komunitas blogger dan pemasang iklan.

Mengenai iklan-iklan-get-rich-quickly, biasanya iklan itu untuk e-book, semuanya sama aja: "(Fill-In produk) Secrets Exposed" gitu. Tetapi, setahunya saya, jarang ada cara untuk get rich quickly 'kan?

Saya takut kalau semua iklan jadi sama, tidak ada iklan yang akan match atau cocok untuk blog/situs niche. My 2 cents :)
