in The Southland Tales Interview with Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko, The Box) on Cinema is Dope
There are 3 groups of people who will never, can't ever, appreciate this movie: 1. consumers of mainstream media (most people), 2. people who think a movie must be perfectly reasonable and understandable (a lot of people), 3. people who expected this to be a Donnie Darko 2 (all movie critics and almost all Donnie Darko fans).
