I just don't think GTD was a good example.

Re: The Distraction-Free Workplace is the Path to an Unfulfilled Life

Wait a second.

As I said, less stress leads to more productivity. Which is obviously what the corporation cares about.

But just because the corporations goal is more productivity, doesn't mean that the less stress isn't good for the individual.

Re: The Distraction-Free Workplace is the Path to an Unfulfilled Life

I can't agree that Getting Things Done is good for the corporation and not good for the employee.

The WHOLE POINT of GTD is less stress for the individual using the system...which leads to greater productivity.

Less stress is always good.

I do agree about the workplace thoughts, though.

Re: Ben Stein: Invest or Pay Off Mortgage?

Was anyone arguing that this wasn't the case? It's pretty simple math.

The only place where disagreement can arise is the psychological side of it. For most people 90% of personal finance is the psychological side. I mean, really...most of this stuff is very basic math.

For most people being completely debt free is quite the invigorating thing that allows you freedom to do what you want, when you want.

Re: Renting Makes You Richer

I have to agree with Dave. Pay off your house. Then you have whatever it appreciates in value + a huge chunk of money each month to invest that would otherwise be going into rent.

Re: Renting Makes You Richer

I always make a ton of money off my homes. I say "homes" because I build my own house as a general contractor and sell it after two years.

Re: Alaskans Can’t Recognize A Solar Powered Car

I'm fairly sure that that story doesn't mean that people from Alaska don't recognize a solar powered car. A couple of people from Alaska, yes, but "people from Alaska", no.
