I am having my own socialist laundry nightmare.

I arrived for my designated laundry time, being the good countryperson abiding by the system, and someone still had laundry in the washer and loads in the dryer. He was apologetic, and since there was still a washer to use, I let it be.

And then I remembered that this has happened with this guy a number of times before. There's being sorry (which it sounds like your people were) and there's being sorry that you were caught.

Haven't been able to put it all together yet, but I wonder: in a socialist system of rules such as this, what kind of sorry to people usually mean?

Anyhow, it gets better. Because while I was on time and still, *still*, technically have the laundry room, the person with the next time spot has already brought in all of their laundry and is loading the washers. What if I wasn't done with them?

Re: Online Hang Outs: Spring 2009

Wow, if I were to write a list of my spring 2009 online hang outs, it would be exactly this. And if you had to make a choice you'd pick her.
When your other half is your priority without being an obsession.
When you put their happiness above yours without expectation.
Its knowing that she will be there for you...to stretch out a hand when you need it, offer a shoulder to cry on, lend an ear to listen, and give a heart wholly and truly without agenda.
That’s Love. A complete trust in someone, knowing that they’ll always be there for you.
It’s also a responsibility. Taking the weight of your choices and feelings...and spending the rest of your time together living up to them. And most importantly, not hurting the object of your love. And that to me is love.

Re: Rainforest World Music Festival 2008 and Other Things

Most of the time I tend to approach relationships of any kind -from friendships to more - with a "no expectation" clause. I know my values and principles. I love deeply with everything I have...no sense in doing things by halves if you ask me. Grey area is overrated.

I treat all my friends as best I can and I'd stick my neck out for everyone of them anytime, without expecting anything in return. But once the trust is betrayed and you know they wouldn't do the same for you...well thats when you cut your losses and know they aren't real friends worth having. Nothing wrong with caring too much...At least you gave them a shot and you know you tried your best to be a good friend...but you gotta know when its an exercise in futility cuz all relationships are two way roads and while you give as much as you can, when the time you need help comes along... thats when you know which friends are worth keeping and who you can count on. Admire your courage and welcome to life without the yoke of theistic religion.

To Ted Betz, am glad that you found "God" and are happy now. Perhaps you like to be reminded here that all of us Xtians in here do not need and want your prayers, thank you very much. And we are not in the least interested to know where we will be in eternity. It is a question that is not necessary or useful. And we do NOT want our lives to end up like yours. We will live our lives the best we know how without having to cling to any super being.

And to Scoobie's Mom, you are welcome in here but to remind you -we all in here does not believe in a God or any God that speaks. Even if that God does speak, it is indeed a very confused one. One thst speaks the Jew way, and sometimes the Muslim way and sometimes the Christian way and nobody can say for sure which is his actual language. I have no need for such a confused God.

Re: http://millerhq.blogspot.com/2009/10/blog-hop-fill-in-finish.html

Great answers. The family decides them saying goodbye is more important than what the person wished.

Had one guy whose wife was an EMT. He himself had been for years before he got sick. He had a trach and a poor quality of life.

One fine winter day, just after Christmas, he had felt well enough to go out of the house and had spent the day going to town with is family, both boys being home for Christmas. They had a wonderful day together.

They arrive home, and he quits breathing. They attempt to clear the trach tube but still cannot ventilate through it. She calls 911 (us) because WE are her support. We arrive on scene and I ask her, "how far do you want us to go?" She says, I don't know what to do but he doesn't want to be kept alive or resuscitated if his heart stops. I say, okay, lets take him to the hospital and if his heart stops along the way, we won't do CPR.

She rides in the back with us. I ventilate because he can't breathe on his own, but he keeps a weak, slow heartbeat the whole way until we get into the ER.

She has brought along his DNR, the signed and official copy even, and hands it to the doctor, explaining that if he confirms his heart has stopped, she does NOT want anything else done. The doctor escorts her out of the room and upon his return, tells us to start pushing drugs since his heart has stopped.

I say, What about the DNR? His wife doesn't want this and I knew him...HE definitely doesn't want this, WHY would we code him?

..the doc says..."Let's just call it medical curiosity"...

So it isn't just family that doesn't have a CLUE!

Re: Where Do They Keep The King Sized Nylons?

Can't say as I relish the visual of you in drag, hon...but you're funny as hell as usual...

I'm make sure to ask Rock about that lap dance next time I see him..

Re: Meditations On Being An EMS Cowboy

Well said, as always..j

Re: Finally, Some Useful Advice…

Well guys..it is nice to see that spirit of cooperation continue on...you are examples to everyone...now, who's getting the royalities again? ;-)

Re: Little White Crosses

Awww AD...your stories are our stories, only the names and locations seem to change a bit. />< />Don't care if it anecdotal...YOU know not everything fits the evidence of EBM...I wasn't saying your thoughts didn't have merit and frankly, I agree with you on many, Many cases..I also did not say EMS should treat based on what CAN happen in that one in a million case.< />< />*I* was pointing out that evidence based anything still has variables..period.< />< />BTW...just for your edification..I got called in to assist a "code" last night that should have NEVER been started...asystole..period, but it was, they ran it, and after one round of drugs, they finally called it in the field. *I* wouldn't have started it for many reasons, but I was not the first medic on scene.

Re: No Surprise There…

Deanna Troi....surprised AD?

Re: Ambulance Driver Answers: An Update on QuikClot

Did the CEO also share any actual data with you?< />< />We addressed the original product, a couple of years ago in my state..we sent out a letter advising AGAINST the use, unless it was a truly LIFE THREATENING situation..i.e...femoral bleed and transport time over 10 minutes, with the failure of other bleeding control methods. < />< />The point...the burns produced were secondary to saving the life/limb..however..it was still a "wake up call" to the manufacturer that it needed to re-evaluate it's product, which it obviously did.<
