the information is easy to read and understand.

Panic attacks can often give the real physical symptoms that can be mistaken for another type of illness, and many people who suffer from them say that they feel as though they are having a heart attack.

Our mental health has a big impact on our physical health and sometimes the two can get confused and mixed up and it isn't easy to distinguish between the two.

Please try the links I have suggested as they will offer you some practical tips on things to try that will help you.

It would probably be a good idea to talk to your GP about the things you are experiencing who should be able to ease your worries about the symptoms, or offer you some kind of suitable treatment.

Great post! I am having my own socialist laundry nightmare.

I arrived for my designated laundry time, being the good countryperson abiding by the system, and someone still had laundry in the washer and loads in the dryer. He was apologetic, and since there was still a washer to use, I let it be.

And then I remembered that this has happened with this guy a number of times before. There's being sorry (which it sounds like your people were) and there's being sorry that you were caught.

Haven't been able to put it all together yet, but I wonder: in a socialist system of rules such as this, what kind of sorry to people usually mean?

Anyhow, it gets better. Because while I was on time and still, *still*, technically have the laundry room, the person with the next time spot has already brought in all of their laundry and is loading the washers. What if I wasn't done with them?

Most of the time I tend to approach relationships of any kind -from friendships to more - with a "no expectation" clause. I know my values and principles. I love deeply with everything I have...no sense in doing things by halves if you ask me. Grey area is overrated.

I treat all my friends as best I can and I'd stick my neck out for everyone of them anytime, without expecting anything in return. But once the trust is betrayed and you know they wouldn't do the same for you...well thats when you cut your losses and know they aren't real friends worth having. Nothing wrong with caring too much...At least you gave them a shot and you know you tried your best to be a good friend...but you gotta know when its an exercise in futility cuz all relationships are two way roads and while you give as much as you can, when the time you need help comes along... thats when you know which friends are worth keeping and who you can count on. Nobody's perfect though...so I suppose you gotta pick and choose your friends carefully.

I may yet be proved wrong but a number of people I know (and I considerered doing the same) have ex-council flats just south of the River to overnight in during the week despite living in commuting distance. The difficulty with commuting being when you have late nights at work and early morning starts. I use a hotel and claim expenses - if I could have claimed expenses to support a flat I would have done, and if this is his second home not his first, exactly what is the issue?

I like the quote you posted. I am fairly girly, but I don't mind roughing it a little bit either. My family has a house in the country that is by the mountains and a river. It is so peaceful there. I'll never forget the fun memories I have from there fishing with my dad, taking hikes, swimming in the muddy river, etc. This post reminds me that it would be nice to take a trip down there soon and disconnect for a weekend!

Hell, I can remember working 50 hours a week and running every call I could on my volunteer squad at home in the *off* hours.

Now I just want to get through my 12 hour shift so I can go home and take a nap. ;-)

Being in EMS and in the past working for a hospital based service, I've seen this also...alot. The family decides them saying goodbye is more important than what the person wished.

Had one guy whose wife was an EMT. He himself had been for years before he got sick. He had a trach and a poor quality of life.

One fine winter day, just after Christmas, he had felt well enough to go out of the house and had spent the day going to town with is family, both boys being home for Christmas. They had a wonderful day together.

They arrive home, and he quits breathing. They attempt to clear the trach tube but still cannot ventilate through it. She calls 911 (us) because WE are her support. We arrive on scene and I ask her, "how far do you want us to go?" She says, I don't know what to do but he doesn't want to be kept alive or resuscitated if his heart stops. I say, okay, lets take him to the hospital and if his heart stops along the way, we won't do CPR.

She rides in the back with us. I ventilate because he can't breathe on his own, but he keeps a weak, slow heartbeat the whole way until we get into the ER.

She has brought along his DNR, the signed and official copy even, and hands it to the doctor, explaining that if he confirms his heart has stopped, she does NOT want anything else done. The doctor escorts her out of the room and upon his return, tells us to start pushing drugs since his heart has stopped.

I say, What about the DNR? His wife doesn't want this and I knew him...HE definitely doesn't want this, WHY would we code him?

..the doc says..."Let's just call it medical curiosity"...

So it isn't just family that doesn't have a CLUE!

His name is Timmy...he was 11 years old. He was run over by a pick up truck. Stayed with me long enough for me to baptise him in the ED before we called it.< />< />found out later he on purposely ran up out of the ditch in front of the pickup so he could go live with God.< />< />Saw him often the first 5 years..now, not so much, just when I need to remember...God takes them sometimes no matter what!

Have a call recently...not mine, but close...motorcycle..ejected, was wearing a helmut...broke her neck. First unit on scene started CPR...Paramedics arrive, continue to "code" her to the hospital. I'm told about this later and my questions..."Was she dead on scene?" answer "yeah, most probably, but the BYSTANDERS/Joe public expect us to do something, so we do something"...is this wrong? < />I dont' know...mixed feelings, I agree with everything you say AD, but there is still that tiny little voice that says.."not everyone you think will end up a veggie after you've brought them back from a Trauma code DOES end up a veggie"..I know this because I've been there and 3 years later watched him walk down the isle as the Best man to my daughters Maid of honor...humbling to say the least.< />< />So yeah...there is a season and a time...who makes that call?
