I am all for training young officers as long as the job is getting done. Our friends in gray paint have a knack for forgeting the 2nd part.

If they are simply in an advisory role do they still have liability?

I'm up for the "Interesting ships" blog. There are so many out at sea that I know nothing about.

I wouldn't be suprised if we start to see a mandatory retirement age come out of this.

Fred, you should be ashamed of yourself. How could it possibly be human to keep a man on a ship against his will for days on end. These guys are trying to do GOOD

I think the operative word here is BOREDOM... the life of a mariner is rarely as exciting as it sounds.

I want to jump through the radio and strangle the person EVERY time I hear this.... which is almost daily.

This is also yet another reason I sigh relief once we get out to sea.
