Stan your post is ridiculous, just because search engines can now index flash files doesn't mean they will rank them highly.

Being indexed and being ranked highly are two very different things.

Actually it's gained 5,000 links and Google isn't going to be doing anything about it. They are just trying to discourage the practice.

They should be profitable with that amount of traffic.

That's disappointing, its a good service.

Link Assistant is quite a good one for checking rankings, we use it to build client reports.

The market share figures are actually pretty good so they should be proud to show them off.

The flickr one is great, been using that for a while.

How was the SEO contest a hoax? Just because the words were made up doesn't make it a hoax.

I've been getting a load of spam emails too, just a sign of the times.

Akismet gets most of it but I would prefer if the spam didn't even get submitted.

If it doesn't show up then Digg probably couldn't find one.

The dup image detection is very cool and I think it's going to be very useful in the long term for Digg Images.

I like meneame.net and scoopeo.com. They send thousands of uniques if you hit the homepage.

As the owner of a 10 week old blog about internet marketing I would like to offer my thoughts.

The problem is that as a new blogger it is very hard to gain any traction so you end up writing about things that you think will gain links from other bloggers and social media sites rather than the general topics that interest you. I started to fall into this trap and stopped myself (hopefully) and just wrote about what I wanted to.

A lot of bloggers want to offer unique posts and avoid rehashing other content which is great. Unfortunately it means they don't link to other blogs very often leaving people needing to use linkbait to build readership.

Andy Beard is quite right, Digg bait and linkbait are totally different things.

Why stop using stumbleupon? It's not their fault some people try to game the system.

The best way to stop this sort of thing is for everybody to vote the thumbs down button when you stumble upon content you don't like.

The funny thing is at the end when he says "just e-market yourself well". If only he knew that SEO was just marketing but on the web.

I set up RSS feeds on Google News, Serph, Digg etc for all my keywords and view it all in Netvibes.

Its not SEO but you might find some interesting mobile marketing / Google phone stuff.
