My blogs & radio show are a close second & third, except they are more of a "personality" version of Elizabeth Potts Weinstein. Facebook is a combo.

As a natural introvert (who hides in the closet at parties & networking events), it's so much easier for me to be "myself" online where no one can see me. Except for the thousands of people who listen to my radio show, read my blogs, read my twitter feeds, etc. (for some reason that does not bother me ...).

What I say on Twitter is what I would say IRL after 2 glasses of wine. But without the wine. Most of the time.

~ Elizabeth

Re: How to Fly Without ID and Skip Lines

Yes, this works!

My ID expired, which was not caught on the flight TO but was caught on the flight BACK. They tagged me and my 2 year old daughter for additional screening.

It was great. With a 2 year old, you can imagine that going through security is a nightmare (even though we fly often enough, I have it down pretty well). They took us aside and even talked to my daughter about what they were doing, how it would not hurt her Dora doll, etc.

Perhaps not exactly kosher, but a great back-up plan if there is a 2 hour wait and you have to make your flight.

~ Elizabeth

Re: No Schedules, No Meetings—Enter Best Buy’s ROWE - Part 2

If my old law firm had got this idea, I might not have quit my job to start my own business (so in a way I'm glad, but ...).

When I was practicing as an attorney in a big law firm, I was actually penalized for being efficient. You see, the more hours you billed, the bigger the bonus (up to $65K plus) -- and since I got my work done between 7 am and 4 pm just 5 days per week, I never got the bonus. Didn't matter how many briefs I wrote, who many cases I won, etc. b/c it's all about how many hours got billed to the client. Amazing!

I'm so proud of Best Buy for adopting this policy -- as it spreads, it will really change the world.

Elizabeth

Re: How to Travel the World with 10 Pounds or Less (Plus: How to Negotiate Convertibles and Luxury Treehouses)

Have you heard of soultravelers3.com, a family of 3 (with a cute daughter who plays the violin) who sold all their stuff and have been traveling the world for 2 years, on $25,000 a year?

Here's their video (featured on YouTube):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn9rDTZj-m4

~ Elizabeth

Re: The Podcast Secrets $20 Preview Call – Methods To My Madness

Great that you mentioned HBO, which is something that should be pointed out -- in any content delivery medium, there are multiple methods to monetize.

Some people will never pay anything for TV. They get regular broadcast channels w/ advertising and generalized for-the-masses content.

Some people will pay a bit for TV. They get cable or satellite w/ advertising and more specialized/long tail content.

Some people are okay with paying more for TV because they want more or don't care about the cost. They pay for premium channels and pay per view, no/limited advertising, higher end and special content.

There is room for every kind of delivery & monetization. All depends if you want to be broadcast TV, cable, or HBO.

~ Elizabeth

Re: Will Orbitz Rise To The Occasion? At least this works for American Airlines (yuck, but they fly direct SFO to STL) and Frontier Airlines (bankrupt, but nice people and hub in Denver).

Oh, and I also fly Southwest Airlines ... yes, it's a cattle-call, but they don't charge extra for stuff, still have pillows/blankets, and generally the flight attendants are encouraged to be nice. :) And for those guys, you also just buy direct.

Re: Are you stepping up to your own brilliance?

Yes, and it's so amazing how that's exactly what I needed to read that day.
