in Are you being someone else on your blog? on shawn farner
I am more myself on twitter than probably anywhere else in real life. My blogs & radio show are a close second & third, except they are more of a "personality" version of Elizabeth Potts Weinstein. Facebook is a combo.

As a natural introvert (who hides in the closet at parties & networking events), it's so much easier for me to be "myself" online where no one can see me. Except for the thousands of people who listen to my radio show, read my blogs, read my twitter feeds, etc. (for some reason that does not bother me ...).

What I say on Twitter is what I would say IRL after 2 glasses of wine. But without the wine. Most of the time.

Shawn Farner I feel like I come pretty close on Twitter as well. Twitter seems to be that kind of place, though - I see a lot of blogging personalities acting more themselves on Twitter than anywhere else.

in How to Travel the World with 10 Pounds or Less (Plus: How to Negotiate Convertibles and Luxury Treehouses) on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Have you heard of soultravelers3.com, a family of 3 (with a cute daughter who plays the violin) who sold all their stuff and have been traveling the world for 2 years, on $25,000 a year?

Here's their video (featured on YouTube):

in No Schedules, No Meetings—Enter Best Buy’s ROWE - Part 2 on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
If my old law firm had got this idea, I might not have quit my job to start my own business (so in a way I'm glad, but ...).

When I was practicing as an attorney in a big law firm, I was actually penalized for being efficient. You see, the more hours you billed, the bigger the bonus (up to $65K plus) -- and since I got my work done between 7 am and 4 pm just 5 days per week, I never got the bonus. Didn't matter how many briefs I wrote, who many cases I won, etc. b/c it's all about how many hours got billed to the client. Amazing!

I'm so proud of Best Buy for adopting this policy -- as it spreads, it will really change the world.

in Finance Tips For Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs on Jim Kukral
Thanks dude!

Yes, I do have a "Money Meeting" with myself every week, just 15-20 minutes, where I go over a marketing & sales report for my business (tracking stats re website, eZine, blogs, video, inquiries, sales, affiliates), and check to make sure nothing wacky is going on w/ my bank & merchant accounts.

Just start small, in bite-size steps, and you can gain control of your cash flow & small business finances!

in How to Fly Without ID and Skip Lines on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Yes, this works!

My ID expired, which was not caught on the flight TO but was caught on the flight BACK. They tagged me and my 2 year old daughter for additional screening.

It was great. With a 2 year old, you can imagine that going through security is a nightmare (even though we fly often enough, I have it down pretty well). They took us aside and even talked to my daughter about what they were doing, how it would not hurt her Dora doll, etc.

Perhaps not exactly kosher, but a great back-up plan if there is a 2 hour wait and you have to make your flight.
