in My First Time Using Craigslist on Bob Caswell
I've used it for job searching and selling items. Similar experience. I do tend to get more spam after replying to items, etc. I'm quite curious about the increase of your spam after responding to those uninterested parties.

I hadn't thought of it in the context of job search... That could be interesting. As for spam, I actually don't think I got any. Every email I got was pretty specific and didn't seem to have any other purpose other than showing real interest in the bed I was selling. But after brief interaction, I thought of it as more an issue of Craigslist users just being flaky.

in I Blame the Internet for My Lack of Reading Books, What’s Your Excuse? on Bob Caswell
I know no one is probably following this any more--a year later, but I'll put in my two bits--reading novels really is good for your brain. It's great we have the internet for the information, nonfiction stuff, that interests us and that we need to know--but the fiction world allows your brain to organize thougths in a different way that can be very valuable in developing logical thinking processes, as well as allowing your imagination to work, which is really very important for spiritual, emotional and intellectual reasons.

I think you're right, Heidi. Full length fiction, though, can often be
one of the first things to get squeezed out (of my life) when time feels
scarce. But I'm working on changing that...

in The State of Phone Support: Not Good on Bob Caswell
I'm just finding you now--good to find you! (Do you remember me? Danielle's old roommate?) Anyway--yes, ditto--especially the "our options have change"--I had a temp job at a company and did some airline booking for a DVP and their line had that on it. Six months later, I came back to that temp job and the phone line had the same message. I wondered how long ago those options changed? Anyway, I would also add the language barrier I've too often run into even after I've gotten a real person on the line. They don't use colloquial American and since I'm not a computer guru, it's not at all helpful for me to have them tell me the specific real names of things when they want me to do something. I ranted a little about that on my blog in March, too, curiously enough:
