This might sound silly but to save our little one's knees during the crawling stage, we use to cut the ends off the bottom of old socks and pull the sock up over the knee. They looked silly as heck but it saved their pants and knees:)

Hmmm, I'm not too eco-friendly but we don't toss out our toothbrushes after they've had it. Instead, we use them for scrubbing jewelry and getting rust of spurs, bits, and buckles:)

I also sack all the foam peanuts and use them with a mixture of soil to plant & replant or flowers & house plants:)

When I first started blogging, I was trying to make money like everyone else. I think I had about 9 blogs on different things and even though they were making some money, they were not the worth the time. Now I mainly focus on my personal blog and one money blog. Those 2 alone are hard enough to keep up with. I think we all need to do some "cleaning up".

It is a bold move indeed, Congratulations! I think the majority of people in this world dislike their job way more than they like it, and if given the opportunity to work at home, they would. Just because you don't work in town at an office, doesn't mean you have to miss out on human engagement. It just means you need to be more creative with your time. Perhaps volunteering at an organization or attending/speaking a conferences. There are many ways to be involved with the human race that don't revolve around a 9-5 job.

I think it will be a great new journey for you Johncow, and I'm inspired that you are "spreading your wings" and opening your mind to this new and exciting venture.

I would like to add something. I'm not easily offended. In fact, living on ranches around cowboys for 15 years, you tend to hear potty mouths here and there. BUT, when a woman is present, there are no such comments made that are disrespectful. Cussing a bit is one thing but the use of that word is in VERY poor taste. I think it's a word that shouldn't even be said in the first place, but if it is going to be used, it should stay with the men. Get my drift? I found it to be disrespectful to your readers in general and your female audience in particular.

I think that just being real makes all the difference in the world. One thing that people like about my food blog is that I use everyday GENERIC ingredients...not some fancy high dollar, order from out of the country type of ingredients. The photos make a HUGE difference as well. It's great to incorporate humor, history, and true life stories when writing anything. It established a bond, a trust with your readers, no matter the niche.

So yes, quality and keeping it real is what counts.

From a marketing perspective, numbers do matter. It proves that we really are "great" and that you should listen to what we have to say. Whether you are a mom blogger encouraging people to enter your giveaway or an affiliate marketer trying to sell a course, we are all do some kind of marketing and NEED the numbers. BUT, keeping those readers/subscribers/followers is what really counts and if you can sustain x amount of stats for longer than a week, then more will come and those numbers are well deserved;)

And of course, the larger your numbers get, the more apt you are to be shot down or challenged. It comes with the territory but you face it and move on. After all, a person with say, 4000 twitter followers, must be influential or they wouldn't have the numbers.

I'm working really hard right to lose weight. It's a slow and sometimes discouraging journey when you are doing it alone. I need this because I can't do it alone and I know that. The kind of support system that WW provides would not only help me learn how to better manage the weight loss, it will be a great support system because I know the it works.

I'm at least 40lbs overweight and would love to get a boost with Weight Watchers. :)

I'm considering writing a cookbook, including cowboy stories and my 'cooking on the ranch' stories. Should writing a cookbook be approached different than a regular book? How do I know if it's something that would be well received? (the niche of the cookbook that is).

Honestly, I think it's okay to say, "Hey, do you see yourself right now??" Sometimes they need someone to tell them something to realize they are doing something wrong. It becomes habit after awhile and "ok" when it's really not and a wakeup call from an outsider can be just the thing that makes a difference.

Coming from an abusive relationship, I wished a million times that someone would have said something to that bastard who was grabbing my mom's arm like that. Maybe if she'd known people care and would stick up for her, she'd been more inclined to do the same.

I love Jennster....she really is freakin' awesome and this is the first time I've seen her wedding photos. She's looks stunning in them!! Of course, she's naturally beautiful but those photos are outstanding.
