After Rev. Wright showed off by insulting the Kennedys on Sunday, I imagine that Caroline at her children's request is showing that the family is still with Obama. He insulted JFK and then Teddy. WTF? It wasn't even necessary because the point could have been made without singling out the political family that has given Barack his biggest boost this election. It was like what are you trying to do. Crazy!

Harold Ford has already started saying that Obama must put Hillary on the ticket tonight. Democrats haven't carried white blue collar workers for almost 30 years so why does he need to put her on the ticket when dems before him didn't carry them. He is expanding the party in otherways and will over come the deficit with young voters and increased turnout. I hate the Billary DLC cronies like Ford. Every time he wants to say something that is really not good for or about Obama Harold calls him "my friend". He wanted to become the first black president anyway so I don't trust Harold's advice any more than I trust Buchanan's.

I agree with you, Jack. I also thought he speech was more of an endorsement of Hillary and tooting his own horn that it was of Barack. The kind of stuff he said about Hillary----all substantive----was great and if people really listened to the speech, they might realize that his so called endorsement of Barack was more of Edwards' own platform talking points and simple acknowledgment that Barack is the nominee. In short, I heard between the two Hillary should have been the nominee but since Barack won we should come together now to defeat McCain. I don't like the way Edwards reinforced the empty suit meme. However, if it is helpful and makes idiot bloggers stop asking who will Edwards endorse every week, the thanks anyway.

Pamela, you are correct that Edwards is originally from South Carolina.

I am not cynical. I am simply an independent thinker who has watched Edwards closely for 10 years. I also don't believe in just parroting what the talking heads and blogosphere tell me is important, not important, or that it is perfect timing because they say it is. Anyone who knows anything about Edwards, knows that had he not gotten 7 percent of the vote in WV, he would have sat at home on his estate until June. It is only because the pundits made a big deal out of that lowly 7% and inflated his importance again that he came out.

I also don't believe Edwards actually voted for Obama. He is a liar who stayed out because he really wanted Hillary to win but since Obama has he jumped on board. Even on his media tour over the last week before the WV primaries he was basically praising Clinton and would only acknowledge Barack in insulting ways like Hillary is a fighter with a lot of experience who gets back up every time she gets knocked down would make a great president...she knows policy and how to get things done...and Barack he just came out of "NOWHERE, literally" and now he has taken it all. I listened to his WORDS show after show and wondered how these idiots could spin that as he is all for Obama. I was thinking over and over again, are you actually listening to his words or are you just STUPID.

Edwards is the worst kind of politician who to this day has less respect than Hillary from his colleagues on the Hill precisely because he is a liar who will do and say anything and could not be trusted; to this day after all Hillary has done and this speaks volumes about the kind of person Edwards is but then millions in NC figured him out long ago and he would never have been re-elected to the senate anyway nor would his endorsement had meant anything before their primary. He was doing a get out the vote media tour for Hillary before WV and when she didn't get the 80% she needed to change the game, he jumped aboard under the cover that ALL those who ignore what he actually says and does to spin him in the best possible (and unrealistic) light. He got HIMSELF a positive news cycle but if it helps Obama, then again thanks anyway. I think AAs are not cynical enough which is exactly why, as a people, don't have shit and won't ever get shit. The inability to be critical thinkers and strategic doers is exactly why the DNC and its pols can take those votes for granted and haven't ended this even though we all knew the math since the first of March.

I suggest we actually watch and listen to what is said and done and stop believing the blog and TV hype but when you do actually starting critically thinking be forewarned that you might get accused of cynicism. Most people don't embrace free thinkers especially when facts threaten to get in the way of a good spin or the desired narrative.

Oh and Edwards most notorious opinion of Obama was when he told Halperin that Barack is a "pussy". Yeah, it was a ringing endorsement and I believe he voted for the pussy whom he can't find anything substantively good to say about. It was clear on Barack's face during the "endorsement" that he realized how it really wasn't one. I watched Obama on that stool and felt sorry for him but he has the benefit of most Americans not being smart enough to actually listen or get what happened, so they will accept the spin, which works to Barack's benefit. Yeah, I'd say most who ever drunk and continue to drink any of Edwards' piss-infused kool-aid have bigger problems than a healthy dose of cynicism could help.

truthseeker, BINGO! Edwards kept walking away from Obama forcing Barack to follow him around on stage like a puppy. Following the body language alone, with the TV on mute an insulated viewer would have gotten the impression that Edwards was the more important person and Obama wanted his attention. The body language coupled with the actual words is where the true Edwards hides.

Even Barack recognized it onstage while sitting listening and it showed in his expressions. Pay close attention towards the end when Edwards says "Only one man knows that change is necessary..Only one man knows that to get lasting change it has to start from the grass roots up..and that man is BO"---the camera pans to Barack and he limply smiles a whatever. BO realized too late that the endorsement wasn't an endorsement and his face told the story. I could have given Edwards a beat down in that one moment. LOL

I can totally understand the desire to end the Hillary VP talk but I prefer the Clinton veep talk over the Edwards veep talk. At least when Hillary is discussed half the people in the discussion give more reasons why she shouldn't get the nod than should. Plus Edwards is already a two-time loser and Obama would only choose him if he wants to lose too but the media will happily pump Edwards for that reason. McCain is the Media Darling and Clinton was preferred over Obama. They don't like Edwards either because he is a snake but they will pump him up if it is bad for Obama and good for McCain. It's not like any of them will say Edwards can't be veep because he is a lying snake that Congress hates and the people of NC hate even more so he can't bring a state to the ticket. LOL

rikyrah, they are definitely obsessed with that talk. I still prefer it to Edwards because when they talk Hill more than half the time is spent pointing out why she is not the right choice. If they wanted to expand the pool objectively, they would actually talk about people who could help Obama. Instead they focus on those who will make him a loser like Hillary or Edwards. No repetitive discussions of Nunn or Sebelius or even Hagel but they will spend as much time as possible obsessing over losers like Hillary and Edwards. JMO and I never bought into this BS that the media supports Obama that is the farthest thing from the truth. Everything they have done has been designed to keep him out of the white house.

rikyrah, I posted a link to an article with its title. If you had read it, you might get a better understanding of how conventions actually work. Delegates choose the president AND vice-president and the point is that Hillary could easily get the delegates for the vice-presidency. This is all the more reason for people to shoot the idea down in the media every time someone else tries to raise it. If the talk goes away, it doesn't mean that the maneuvering behind the scenes ends; it just means that HillVeep gets what they want a little easier because the opposition is naively comfortable that the problem is over just because it is out of sight and out of their minds. The world doesn't stop just because the media isn't discussing it and it is a verifiable fact that Clinton could become VP without Obama's approval. I just focus on the facts and leave the emotions, spins, and narratives to the others. She can get it if she really wanted it even if she is not his choice; just fact and not my wishes. I hate her and Edwards but I hate him more because he gets away with the same stuff she does simply because his name is not Clinton.

Do you think that they would not have put their money and boots into getting Obama elected instead of McCain in the fall anyway? I suspect they having supported Edwards informed Edwards in advance, which may also have contributed to him getting out in front of it. These courtesy calls are standard. Craig, I like you am happy the Dem party is starting to get behind the nominee but it won't make me forget that the math is no different than it was two months ago but Obama has been damaged heavily during that time and most of it could have been lessened or prevented had all of the "endorsements" come when they would have come for any lesser qualified White person who had secured the nomination early. Edwards is not for Obama but he is for what Obama can do for Edwards; so I don't give him any credit for doing absolutely nothing for anyone but Edwards.

I have to stop debating this by agreeing to disagree on the greatness of Edwards and his opportunism. It is the forgetting that gives America two Bush terms and changing narratives from "in Iraq for WMD to being there to topple a tyrant and giving freedom to people" and it is the passes that gets blacks a perpetual seat on the bottom rung of the American ladder. Tavis was right about one thing, Blacks get nothing because they never hold anyone accountable; his error was that he was shilling for Hillary and not holding her accountable but he is right that you can beat blacks over the head, tell them to kiss your arse, and spit in their faces but if you wait a few months and give them a pat on the head, they will forget all and sing about the pat on the head. b-serious, I think even you would agree that Wolfson was speaking only of the presidential nomination and not the VP when he stated that for Obama to get the nomination he must actually you know win it (or beat her). She has half the party and even if Obama gets to 2025 for presidential, she could get to 2025 for the VP. Its in the open now, the same delegates as are being sought now (the same ones that have been reluctant to support Obama HINT HINT). I am not arguing that she should, I'm just stating the fact that she could and it is easier than most apparently want to accept. It's almost like if one points out a simple fact, one has to actually defend the fact because the audience doesn't like the fact.

We are on the same team but I prefer that my team know what is going on so that they can pop off their objections to the DNC and networks each time the issue is raised instead of getting distracted by Edwards while someone else can secure the VP nomination unprotested because well no one is telling them it is important anymore. We just disagree on whether if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound. I think it does and I think Hillary could secure the VP spot even if the media doesn't mention her name again and furthermore, I think it would be easier for her.

Let's agree to disagree because I accept that you want Edwards VP talk and think a Hillary media shutout prevents a Hillary VP option. Maybe you are correct but I still disagree with the premise. I don't want Hillary or Edwards as VP but I have been a registered independent since 1996, so I moved further towards truth a long time ago.

Craig, perception is power but perception is not reality. Edwards did not endorse Obama in his speech but he said all aboard. I speaking of the reality and not the perception fed to you by the media (you did admit to having not watch the non-endorsement right).

I haven't heard very many people other than republicans like Pat and Joe claiming that Hillary has earned the VP slot or that she deserves it and if anyone who is susceptible to the drum beat of rabid republicans are not smart enough to get any of the points that I have made anyway, so I'm not surprised by constant debate against facts.

VP nominations, like presidential nominations, are secured before the convention LIKE NOW. Maybe you should stop focusing on August and realize that real world politics are going on NOW and a bunch of talking idiots on TV or in the blogosphere won't prevent delegate VP math if a candidate secures it the way you seem to think. They can however affect whether or not there is awareness. Apparently, the public prefers to wallow in their ignorance. In the words of the rajun cajun: "it's the [delegates] stupid"; I don't think Contessa brewer or Pat not mentioning Hillary again will prevent her from become VP if she has the DELEGATES. You can argue against it as much as you want but it will seem as illogical to me as assuming unions only endorse Obama because of Edwards. It requires public outrage to sway delegates not Pat and Joe pushing Hillary. LOL

Ms. Martin, I was talking about the RANK of big moments not the chronological order. That is to say that IMO the Edwards endorsement isn't anywhere near the top of my list. On the importance of Oprah's help, Michelle O. and I agree completely on how she opened the door for him in Iowa and SC to get the attention he wasn't getting before. Now he can draw 30,000 people without Oprah's name on the marquee but without her giving him a boost well we can all disagree...but I agree with Michelle on how important Oprah was in getting this ball rolling full speed ahead.

rikyrah, Cafferty called Huckabee an "idiot" for his Obama assasination joke. Then Jeff Toobin protested and lectured Jack about calling Huck an idiot for what was little more than a bad joke in Toobin's mind.

After Jeff finished chastising Cafferty for calling Huck an idiot and Wolf was trying to move on, Cafferty interrupted and said Wolf let me say this another way because of a poor choice of words, then Cafferty says "Huckabee is an idiot". LOL

Cafferty repeated his original opinion and Toobin got pissier and Cafferty basically gives him his backside to kiss because Cafferty thinks there is no excuse for what Huckabee said.

Then Lou and Wolf said they agreed with Toobin that Huck is not an idiot for making a little joke.

Let's stop ignoring the obvious point of Obama's call. He is specifically talking about PERSONAL attacks and casting aspersions on the CHARACTER of his family members. He is not running from a debate on the issues and neither is Michelle.

What he does expect is that intelligent grown folk can debate on policy and merits without resulting to demonizing people with mischaracterizations that the perpetrators themselves know are false. Michelle has neither done nor said anything unpatriotic but a bunch of desperately, misguided fools who know they have no real policy or vision for the country try to take this lowly and stupid way out of admitting their own lack of substance.

Unless republicans want to start seeing bloggers and opinion writers noting Cindy's drug abuse, felonious behavior, etc., they should really try taking the high road where family members are concerned. Besides, when we start getting into the gutter, by 3 to 1 margins more republican skeletons will be found there every time.

And Obama supporters will naively pay every dime of it, which is the entire purpose of Dean's newly created JOINT fundraising venture. There is some poetic justice for Hillary supporters that the Obama supporters will pay the bills for prolonged damage to their candidate's chances of actually winning the general.

I read a blogger touting the fund as having Barack's back but that kind of ignorance neglects that Hillary's name is also part of the fund which means that money put in can also go to her. Hillary's name doesn't need to be on the fund for her to help raise money, just as Gore's name is not on it. However, by law her name must be on it in order to use the funds, especially for disbursement of $30 million to pay her debts.

Also, from what I have read earmarks wouldn't cover the total costs of the lost revenues. Offsetting in this case is the equivalent of trying to fill a swimming pool with a tablespoon. Where will McCain get the remainder of the funds or does he plan to continue to grow the deficit as Bush and the republicans have done for the last 7 years?

That is probably the stupidest Iraq plan to date: the rest of the world should pay the costs and somehow that will miraculously end the fight and instantaneously get our troops home.

For all the experience and bona fides you bestow on McCain he is no more prepared to be president than Obama is and judging by what you posted he is less prepared. The real answers are easier than copying from McCain's website, blogs and articles. It really is just that simple and avoiding addressing this direct question by engaging in a HYPOTHETICAL 2013 fantasy is shameful but clever enough to fool most of the idiots in the media. Unfortunately, to me this comes off as getting the trusty and "useless except for voting the way told blacks" back in line.

Maybe you should release the stupidity alerts at Hillary's website, Tailor Marsh's blog, etc because that is where it belongs. Blacks and Obama have been above board this entire process. It would be stupid to acquiesce and solidify their votes as a guarantee even when essentially being told that they don't mean shit to the party because brown is the new black. Gosh, if their is no ounce of racial pride, then you are right and we (well not me because I'm smarter than most) will do as master commands as usual.

Ms.Martin, do you mean the elected superdelegates (senate, house members, and governors) instead of the DNC? They are not equivalent. Howard dean asked superdelegates to come out and declare their choice about six weeks ago, which showed how powerless the DNC is for this particular crisis.

I think Obama Should make Michelle Bernard or Keith Boykins the White House Press Secretary in his first administration. I know others like to crush on Maddow but I don't trust her, especially watching her deliberately poor performance on the couch with Ferraro on the Today show and afterwards her inability to just say flat out that Ferraro was full of BS with those arguments against Obama. I would most like to see either Bernard or Boykins as White House Press Secretary. I know this is off topic but I had wanted to say it for awhile.

rikyrah, I have to wonder why exactly does Rangel, Hastings, and Brown get a pass on your list? They surely are on mine. Hastings with his corrupt self will boycott the convention because his delicate "morals" were offended by the DNC rules.

When one pledges that he won't attend the convention that is the most historical in the history of all presidential conventions on the anniversary of MLK's Dream Speech, that puts him second only to Tubbs-Jones on my list. Since that doesn't put Hastings at the top of my list, a CBC member would have to call Obama the n-word on national TV to replace her as the biggest elected thorn in the CBC because intellectually I feel like Hastings has earned the top spot with his latest stunt but Stephanie holds a special place in the bottom of my bowels.

I tried to warn many thick heads that it has been about the VP slot since NC but they didn't want to deal with reality of conventions and nominations. They found more comfort in arguing against the facts with me than joining a concerted effort to head this off. Unless a vetting makes her an impossibility she will have the delegates for the VP slot and I get to watch others find a way to go back on their words to support the Obama-Clinton ticket despite strong statements to the contrary. Let the Hillary butt kissing and usual kneegros falling in line begin.....

Ms. Martin, it definitely is pretty sad regardless of how you look at it. Sad indeed.

If an Obama-Clinton ticket gets in the White house it will be a co-presidency until she gets her LBJ moment. If she can force her way onto the ticket, it is clear before Nov that Obama is weak by comparison. It is a catch 22.

Too bad Obama supporters weren't as keen as Hillary supporters too head this off at the pass. Those old women have been behind the scenes making it known that she must be on the ticket while blacks have been refusing to see the bigger picture. Now is the time to pray for a vetting that proves corruption against ethics, principles, or laws. Hillary is setting the agenda and she has apparently decided that she wants on the ticket. If she wasn't setting the agenda, the superdels would have ended this a month or two ago...bigger picture.

That is nice Craig, but superdels will sail that ship and I'll bet you will find most making suggestions that Hillary is VP or would be the best choice, including the black ones. Obama will take her before it becomes a floor fight because he will lose it. Listen to the words of the superdels EVEN as they endorse Obama they speak of the dream ticket. She has to be vetted out now or she has to change her mind. She is in control. Have you noticed everyone saying how Obama has to work hard and appease her and give her whatever she wants. I actually listen to words and note actions. It is as simple as the superdels saying we will vote for you as nominee (you won the majority of pledged delegates) but her as VP because she has "earned it".

pamela, we will have to agree to disagree. It is about kneegros falling in line. That is why the superdels didn't end this sooner, the way they would have if Edwards or Hillary had sewn up the nomination with 11 wins in the row in February. They could afford to take blacks for granted because blacks always fall in line and as the responses today are already proving, will fall in line again. If the democrats were afraid of losing your votes, they have a funny way of showing it. LOL
