You wrote a beautiful post. I often wonder why people dig into your content like lawyers looking for a loophole. I wish the people who comment here would cut you some slack.

Nice to have you blogging again, but I'm not joining you at the hip on this particular one. If you feel online friendships are not real, then you must think online relationships are not real. In that case what the Hell is social media's value?

You are right. Holding a 19-day-old baby is cathartic and puts the meaning of Twitter in real perspective. Instead of dinner, why don't we just go walk on the beach together. It's time we kicked back and walked and talked.

Thanks for the clarification, Robert. I completely agree with your comments here. I am beginning to think that my personal experience would indicate that Technorati's rankings are not as dynamic as one would hope.

Is this just blog.tv? Can you view ustream.tv and justin.tv as well as the other US-based livestream sites?

I'm with you on this I think it sucks. The thing about online communities is precisely that geography becomes irrelevent. This sounds to me like yet another large incumbent trying to "own" a community. They would be wiser to just host it and let the community own itself. Blog.tv is very cool and you deserve the right to watch it from wherever you are.

Would you be interested in talking to me? I used to subscribe to BusinessWeek and that is a little known fact. You should be interested because I'm a nice guy. It says so on my business card and you don't see that every day. By the way, that's Hugh Card and they are expensive as Heel. So when you're done reading it, could I have the card back?

Actually I got the same pitch and was very nice. It was far from the worst pitch I heard this past week.

Those keyboard clicks may be telling you how many people are ignoring the demo and doing email.

I would guess that a great number of us bloggers share Craig's high esteem of journalists. If there was a bump at WeMedia, it wasn't between bloggers and journalists. It was between new media champions and old media dinosaurs. The people running media companies are not journalists. They regard journalists as an overhead problem, just one evolutionary step above the swamp creatures known as bloggers.

One more thought, Robert. You taught me the standards for blogging that I adhere to. It is what you taught me that makes me so passionately oppose Pay per Post, who have shown themselves to be the sidewalk hookers of the blogosphere. Robert, I really hope you cancel. In the long run, you will be doing PodTech a service.

I had a very similar experience, except I was on the Tube in London and nodded casually at a friend from Palo Alto. I was off the tube before I realized he was completely out of context.
