Same thing happened to me, although I could have sworn I was at a later version a few days ago. WTF?

in 2008/10/24/railsrumble-contest-apps/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Thanks for the mention of whatdoesthiserrormean. And thanks, Michael :)
3 of us worked on the app, and managed to get a screencast and 2 plugins out at the same time. Please install the plugin (rails or merb), so we get more real error messages. All of us (team Giraffesoft) are subscribed to the error feed and we DO answer those we can help with.
After the code freeze, we'll be tweaking the app to make it more useful. It's definitely hard to envision how the app will be used as you're building. So please see the screencast and install the plugins!

in RailsRumble Started: OpenID FAIL — A Single Programmer's Blog on A Single Programmer's Blog
Here's what I did on my blog:
<link rel="openid.server" href="http://www.myopenid.com/server">
<link rel="openid.delegate" href="http://danielharan.myopenid.com/">
If my openid provider fails me, I can switch them. Not much good when my hosting provider is down and my website can't be accessed mind you :(

in Change I'd Like To See on A VC
It doesn't seem to be what happens in France (which I'm familiar with). Also, a lot of our health care costs could be lower if more people - especially men - would go see a doctor sooner.
I believe the issue you bring up is referred to as 'moral hazard' by US conservatives. It's an ideological argument, not based on any real evidence.

"And what does it take to get them to willingly hand over the keys to the car to someone else?"
I know a lot of people that won't even consider VC funding because of attitudes like those. Hackers learn fast; how about coaches rather than ultimatums? Clear guidelines as to what exactly is expected instead of lionizing the CEO?

management coaches are great and I recommend them to everyone. but they are not for everyone. you have to want a coach for it to be effective.
and ultimatums are certainly not the answer.
these are issues that have to be dealt with in reasoned, calm, conversations and the outcomes can't be dictated to people without talking it over at length.

@Eric Anderson: If you can avoid multi-object creation, then more power to you. This is indeed only for rare cases - although I think you confuse things by calling it a mixin. Check out the link macournoyer to get a better sense of what this encapsulates.

in Paying Lip Service to Failure Is Not Enough on Instigator Blog
If we reduce this to a lottery, failure is useless. In this case Phil learned a lot, and he won't do things the same way. No doubt there will be fewer founders next time, and one of them will have technical expertise. He'll do more market research, and know his target market has money and will be repeat customers.
His odds for next time went up.

I don't see how this looks like a con...
