Sam's sweet. Thanks for sharing the picture and the video. And yes, he should be in front of a Mac. But PC laptops make fair frisbees.

in I Don’t Like The Idea Of Fake Comments on Webomatica
When Darren wrote about this, it really intrigued me. While I've thought of doing it very early on, I never did because it just didn't seem right. And I'm glad I didn't.

You're right that just because there are few or no comments doesn't mean your blog isn't getting read and making an impact on people. Yet it's nice to get those comments and grow the conversation.

Thanks for an excellent post and a bit of link love.

in Is My Family Great? on GoodWordEditing.com
Hi Mark

My vote is that your family is better than great. Your kids are beautiful. And it's lovely to meet your wife. I'm guessing my wife would love it if I described her as substantive.

Hey, thanks for sharing your lovely family. And thanks for answering the tag.

I, and my clients, find metaphors quite helpful in explaining/understanding technology. So I wouldn't throw them out all together.

in The Four Agreements on The Marketing Technology Blog
Doug. Sounds like an interesting book. Have your read it through? Worth the price of admission or did you summarize the jewels from it here in your post?

Definitely four attributes to strive toward. And, then directly relate to blogging.

Douglas Karr It's definitely on my short list for books to read, Dawud! I never thought about blogging (duh!), but you're absolutely right - it's great advice for bloggers!
Julie Hunter I have read this book several times and it was life changing the first time, life affirming every other time. While the principles are simple, to actually put into practice (deeply) in our personal and professional lives takes discipline and a continued desire towards self-improvement. Now, while I am certainly more concerned with the personal side and this blog of Doug's addresses the more professional/technical side of life, our circle of influence is as great as we want it to be. The four agreements are expanded upon within the book and it explains a much deeper meaning to each agreement.

The beginning of the book drags a bit, but once it gets into the "meat" of it, I was transfixed...and then transformed. If everyone could apply these principles, we would change the world.

Oh Ben, he's beautiful. And it's lovely seeing a photo of you holding him. What delight. Thanks for sharing Quinn with us.

I'm happy to hear that he and mom are healthy and home. Now the fun begins - again.

Many blessings and a world of prayer to your whole family.

in DoFollow | No Nofollow – Highs & Lows on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
First thing, thanks Andy for all your help and support and for bringing nofollow to my attention. I hope that I've helped promote it in some way.

Now, on to John Chow...I think his tactics are disgusting as well. Doesn't he realize that soon his 'reign' will end. Doesn't he know that the very community that has made him known is turning against him because of his dirty tactics? I guess he's just interested in flaming out. I don't know. But I know it's not going to last much longer.

Paying for links is beyond beyond rediculous. But if you make your bed, you will sleep in it eventually.

in Fifteen “Good Word” Bites from SOBcon07 on GoodWordEditing.com
Hey Mark

I just wrote a post about what David said in #12. I find it one of the turning moments of the event for me. Of course, I can't say that without also considering where I am in the shifting of my business and general - and my need to rebrand.

Hey Ben. And, again, Happy Birtday from Monday. Don't worry, I won't share any of the other personal stuff I learned about you at SOBCon.

Meeting you, talking business and hanging out around an excellent Indian meal was a blast. Now I know who the Instigator is...except that Adam and I had to prod to you go to dinner.

Thanks for some great talks and for sharing your knowledge of podcasting.

And I'm with Phil..."High tech is good; high touch is GREAT!" HEY PHIL, CAN I USE THAT?

I agree. Ideally, memes should be selected that fit your blogging goals and, ideally, add as much benefit to your readers as to your traffic.

Easton, I was never in the military, but I was once told by a friend who was that in boot camp he once heard his drill instructor say, "I don't care of you died last night, get your a** up and give me 5 miles!"

Ben, looks like I'll have to go. I can't claim any of your five reasons...oops, wait a minute, I haven't showered today...oh, we're okay. I'll see you there.

in 5 Bizarre Tips to Double Your Productivity on The Marketing Technology Blog
Yes. To be productive you have to put phone calls and email in their proper place. If you're just a slave to them all day long - they do nothing but interrupt your work flow.

Great points.

Douglas Karr Thanks Dawud! In our 'American-Me-Me-Me' society, some folks don't appreciate it when you don't respond to an email or phone call immediately. But I'm determined to make the understand.

Yes. For me, rhythm (and clarity) lets me select the right tasks for the state I'm in. I work like I'm dancing - constantly moving, thinking, exploring. So I find rhythm is necessary for focus.

in Be More Productive By Taking A Break on Instigator Blog
Gayla, I agree with Ben. You have to take time for yourself. I work hard - I also play and rest hard.

Ben, one of the things I try to do is work highly focused for 50 minutes out of each hour - usually on one and no more than two tasks. Then, I take a 10 minute break. Then back to 50 minutes of focused work. I've found this to be more effective than any other way for me to work.

Also, you have to turn off your feed reader and your email client for stretches.

in Even Superheroes Have Limitations on Instigator Blog
I was referencing a Chris Rock skit where he refers to how Hilary Clinton didn't take good enough care of her husband when he was President (if you know what I mean):

"People think Hilary's a hero. Hilary aint no hero. Aquaman's a hero. He could talk to the fishes. What the *%#@ can Hilary do."

Chris' delivery will play much better than the comment text here.

And Adam, you should have known this one.

in Even Superheroes Have Limitations on Instigator Blog
Love this post, Ben. What's more interesting is that I often tell my clients that a blog is just a website with special powers. Sort of like how Aquaman could talk to the fish.
